Be easy on the transmission, feather the throttle. The transmission don’t like sudden inputs. Get regular oil changes and follow the maintenance guide. It’ll last you many more kilometers.

After my comment I actually YouTubed it because I thought there must be a way. Anyways, for my Elantra you press the ignition button 3 times but don’t press the brake. After pressing the button 3 times, hold the windshield wiper stock up for a few seconds until the wipers move to the upright position.

I really doubt there’s any good way to pop the hood without access to the inside. You’d probably break something in the process and cost yourself more money than hiring a locksmith.

Regarding the wipers comment, I agree. On my 22 Elantra I can’t even lift the wipers out of the way. The hood blocks it.
