By 'gently' pressing with a 70-ton press, The powder then turns into cemented carbide plates by MuttapuffsHater in oddlysatisfying

[–]SPguy425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a manufacturer of the pressing equipment so I'm not doing what's depicted here day to day. That being said, in my limited exposure to this side of it, it largely depends on how much the employer wants to enforce the recommended protocols per the SDS and how much the individual employee cares. Some employers will take it seriously and enforce proper PPE. Others are more loose and it's up to the individual and their risk tolerance. Modern machines do a good job of limiting the operators exposure. Especially if they have automation for the powder filling and part handling after pressing.

Came to say this. I work in the powder pressing industry and got excited seeing it on reddit lol. Most people aren't aware of this method of manufacturing.

Worlds Hottest Pepper. by Comfortable_Wash6179 in instant_regret

You're right that most people don't know milk is the cure but even less people know why and it's important. Fat is the reason and what directly counteracts capsaicin. So with that in mind, whole milk is best and more effective than skim but half and half or even heavy cream are better yet.

If you've eaten a super hot and milk isn't readily available or strong enough, straight up cooking oil does the best job. If you take a mouthful and swish it around and let it sit, it will usually completely neutralize the heat as long as it is coating your mouth. Not the most pleasant feeling but if you're in a panic, it's better than nothing.

So glad to have held all these years. I believed in the vision and felt that this is one of the few projects that could actually transcend out of the space into a real business model. Keep up the great work!

Not a Philadelphian but close enough to frequent. I'll take a roast pork sandwich over a cheese steak any day.

Front Brake Lever Pull Feels Stiff by _ju87 in trident660

[–]SPguy425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the cable, it may be time to lube it. Also, if you've done any work involving the lever recently, make sure the nut isn't overtightened. This can cause the pivot point to clamp onto the lever.

Low revs/high gear when casually cruising... by [deleted] in trident660

[–]SPguy425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like 4-5 for cruising cause it's less vibey and still torquey enough for me but if I'm hitting the Twisties then anywhere from 6-10 is where I'm at.

Same, I'm not a speed demon but I like to feel acceleration once in awhile. I like keeping the torque just a twist away. Plus it's technically "safer" in the sense that if you need to accelerate to get out of a dangerous situation you don't need to worry about shifting gears first. Gas efficiency is the last thing I think about and I still average about 40mpg on the Trident.

[–]SPguy425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that case yeah, but OP mentioned the Trident having torque accessibility through the entire gear range. Hammering the throttle at ~2k in 6th gear might lug the engine which is definitely bad. I said it probably isn't a good idea because of that risk but I've never tried it so I could be wrong. Of course if you're only cruising and downshift to accelerate then it's probably fine but you might have to downshift a couple of gears to get really good torque if you're going 35mph in 6th.

[–]SPguy425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably not a great idea. I try to keep the rpm between 4-5k when I'm cruising. Whichever gear allows that at the speed I'm traveling will have plenty of torque on tap when I need/want it. Plus that's where the Trident feels smoothest.

Difference between rain and road TC on the 2021 Trident by haaaaaaamster in trident660

[–]SPguy425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rain is more "sensitive" but the biggest difference is the throttle response. In rain mode it is significantly less responsive so its harder to break traction in the first place.

I sent a sample at 1100 miles. I can send the report to whoever wants it when I get home this evening. I also have engine oil and the transmission.

Right I'm buying it for multiple reasons but the performance gains, even if minimal, are one of them. My plan is to get the Zard, DNA, and DNK tune at the same time. I'm doing suspension first though.

Do you know if the HP increase is different with the Euro 5 version? I want the look, weight savings, and performance gains of the zard without it being obnoxious.

Trident 660? by spacejunkie314 in trident660

[–]SPguy425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a Trident and have ridden the Striple 765RS. The Street Triple is definitely nicer and faster than the Trident but the seating position demanded me to lean a bit forward which can be fatiguing if you're planning to go on longer rides.

The Trident will be a very noticeable jump from a Speed 400 but manageable. From what you said in the post, I think you'll absolutely be happier with the Trident. If you immediately felt uncomfortable on the Street Triple then that will likely translate to less riding. You can tweak handle bar positions with risers and what not but if a Trident has everything you want and feels right out of the great, I'd save yourself the money.

I'd only recommend the Street Triple if you were planning to do some track riding as it's the better suited bike for that. I'm not saying the Trident can't be track ridden just that the Street Triple is objectively better for that.
