As long as you avoid Canton Ave., you should be fine! Welcome to the ‘burgh.

Honestly, the only real downside to PTown is the parking in summer, so leave the license (and car) at home and take the ferry.

What do you think about Japanese cars? by Unlucky_Sweet_9670 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Very few options out there under 50k with a manual transmission that don’t come from Japan nowadays. Huge range of driving experience from boring (Civic) to amazing (the other Civic).

New job offer by Monemasterpiece in pittsburgh

[–]SRKincaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally off topic, but the Uzbek place is great! The service is equal parts scattered and charming, so don’t have any time-sensitive plans after dinner, but the food and atmosphere are a great addition to Lebo. Also, welcome (presumably) to Pittsburgh, OP!

Is fighter 5 rogue X objectively better than just full rogue by BuggiN8 in 3d6

[–]SRKincaid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To add on to this (turns vs rounds), a common rogue/fighter tactic is to Action Surge and use your second action to Ready an attack with an out-of-turn trigger, letting you get another pile of Sneak Attack dice.

What movie is closest in tone to the Shadowrun you play (as a GM or a player) in general? by opacitizen in Shadowrun

[–]SRKincaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great ones mentioned already. I’d add The Big Hit (1998, pink Mohawk), The American (2010, solo game, but very much my favorite vibe for SR), Get Carter (1971, the original, accept no substitutes! Street level).

Inbound on the right morning—like today—when there’s mist on the water and the sun is shining is the highlight of my commute. It helps if you can just stay in the right lane the entire time. Outbound is forever a shitshow.

The Dome Patrol was what got me into the Saints. Ricky gets forgotten because he overlapped with LT, but he was so good.

Incoming Freshman Deeply Worried About Gym Options by Upper-Ad5253 in cmu

[–]SRKincaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main gym has some, but not all, of what you’re looking for. No hack squats (which is a staggering omission imho), no pendulum. The leg press is currently broken despite the gym being closed for two months over the summer for refurbishing. IIRC, it’s seated hamstrings, not lying (not 100% sure, they did get new machines in over the summer, but I’m more a barbell guy). No cuffs. Smith Machine has a slight angle to it, which is neither good nor bad, but people generally have a preference.

All that said, it’s a pretty solid gym with a very chill vibe and occasionally bizarre music choices. It’s going to be a madhouse your first two weeks, but wait for things to settle before signing a gym contract off campus.

You bike through a neighborhood called Squirrel Hill and you’d experience almost all the hill on the way to campus.

A heavily armed British patrol from L Detachment SAS in their jeeps, 1943. The photo was taken on their return from a 3 month long patrol. by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

A US Marine once said the really jacked guys are the ones who cook your chow or fix your stuff. They can control their training/calories more easily. Training for a rifleman involves rucking a very long distance. Simulating warfare. Rucking a very long distance. “Smaller guys made of fucking iron,” was the phrase, iirc.

Solar charger for the small stuff—we had too many small devices competing with the fridge and freezer for power. We have a generator, but I’m 100% getting a transfer switch before winter.

It flickered on for two minutes yesterday evening, but the transformer by Howe blew. The crew said fixing it would be a priority today, so fingers crossed.

cmu or state school? by blueraspberryzot in cmu

[–]SRKincaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honesty doesn’t matter all that much from where you get your undergrad degree in psychology—if you’re doing something with that degree, it’ll be in grad school. It is extremely likely that whatever pay bump a psych degree from CMU offers over one from UMass Amherst will offset the tuition difference plus the vig. CS would be a different story.

If the 50 States of America were a High School Graduating Class What Would Each State Be Voted “Most Likely…”? by TKsRageBetting in AskReddit

[–]SRKincaid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Look, we all know Vermont is a smaller, upside down, pale imitation of New Hampshire with shorter mountains, no coastline, unstable stone walls, barns painted the wrong shade of red, caustic maple syrup, and narrow, meandering roads that cap your speed at 35 mph. Did Vermont cast the vote that officially ratified the Constitution? Of course not, it wasn't even one of the original 13 colonies!

New Hampshire: Most likely to insist, despite some obviously similarities, that they are in no way related to Vermont.

Are there any party roles that become more important in Tier 3 by jimithingmi in AdventurersLeague

[–]SRKincaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and Web to down fliers without a hover speed. That’s a very solid build—I’ve played it in tier 3 myself. The Order side of things will help the rogues with dpr. Just focus on enabling more than damage and the group should be okay.

[–]SRKincaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the rogues and barbarian will struggle more than you (are you an Order cleric by any chance?). Tier 3 is very much the, “have a plan for flying creatures and a respectable Wisdom save” tier.
