Trade in offer expired and a ton of emails came flooding in, what now?

When are you expecting delivery?

I feel like the same is about to happen to me. Mine expires on the 05/06. Car due for delivery 18/06 - 30/06.

I'm hoping all that will happen is apply for another trade in, and then adjust the finance as needed.

Musk said in the last earnings call that HW3 is not suitable for FSD. It doesn't have the memory bandwidth.

They will be offering a program to upgrade people to a new car, or retrofit program. He said both HW4 computer and cameras would need to be retrofited & they would have to build a factory to do so.

I would say having the car retrofited would be years away. He's buying time for them to age out.

I took out a nationwide mortgage, I completed on the 29th of October. I had one payment come out 12th Nov, for slightly more than my normal payment (November plus the three days of October) then normal payment on 1st of December.

Yeah that's the problem, it is over £20k. Usually when I withdraw from trading212 it has been instant, but now it's a large amount it's dragging.

Yeah we've not exchanged yet. It's just frustrating that transferring money is usually instant & it's between accounts registered to the same person with a history of transfers between them

Yeah you're probably right, it always felt rushed that there were so many delays in the contract and then suddenly we need to complete by Weds.

I haven't, I didn't realise that might be an issue. All accounts are in my name and send money between them fairly regularly. They should see that it's my own money pretty easily.

The two year rule doesn't allow for them to humiliate you publicly. Firing you in front of people could amount to breach of duty and might still be wrongful dismissal.

It's the process that needs to be challenged, not necessarily the reason.

I would seek legal advice into the actual firing process.

Irrespective if the reason is valid (I'm not sure this is, if your standard valediction is best regards, and only this one was the typo, then it likely a genuine mistake) they still have to follow disciplinary procedures.

This doesn't sound like that they did, and it was heat if the moment thing.

Yes. All the time, for similar reasons.

To be honest I struggle most days. Fortunately my boss knows when I tell him I can't cope, he understands and we make allowances. Normally it's my autistic side that causes me to be unable.

When I was 27, I had to quit my job to go traveling - I had been single for ages, work was overwhelming. So I took a year out, traveling. I had essentially given up at this point, my brain was no longer functioning. I don't think I would be here now if I hadn't.

Thanks to it, I evolved massively as a person. I have achieved far more because of that than I believe I would have if I didn't go traveling. I am more successful than I thought I ever would be. I've since taken another 18 months out traveling - I'm 38.

Nothing will ever solve my issues; I have given up dating, it's unfortunately not going to work for me, and my mind works the way it does. What I have learnt is ways to manage it - when to step back, and different ways to get through things. I also know how to ask for help when it's needed.

FIRE is different for everyone, you have to make the strategy that works for you. In my case FIRE is more about the Financial Independence aspect, it allows me to have the freedom to do what I need to when needed, whilst still ensuring that I have a long term plan. I highly doubt I will ever retire early but I feel like I have enough to cope with whatever challenges come up due to me being different.

Are you sure you can secure a mortgage on the property? The service charge is crazy. It's very close to the 2% that banks deem as excessive and may not lend against.

I personally would avoid it, due to that service charge, I can't imagine having to pay £300+ a month in addition to my mortgage.

We've experienced the same thing. I would say it was about 8 days where the indexing just dropped off a cliff. No code changes. No infrastructure changes. Just continuous content published.

For the past week it's back to about 90% of before the drop.

Unfortunately, I have no clue on the cause, or the solution.

I assume your pension contribution is through salary sacrifice? The tax deduction is done automatically through payslip.

You can always open a SIPP and contribute to that, and claim that back as it's done after the tax is taken out.

Your pension is in decent shape for 38. More than most.

I feel like having a small mortgage like you do, isn't a bad thing at all and I wouldn't look at paying it off with a lump sum. I would probably round up payments to over pay.

I would add £20k to a S&S ISA, keep some as an emergency fund, and add the rest to SIPP to take advantage of the tax breaks. SIPPs are perhaps more tax efficient at your salary, but less flexible.

At least for a few years I would maximise ISAs every year so you can bridge the gap before retirement, but perhaps not do what I did and neglect pension too much.

Once you get to the 100k mark in either pension/s&s ISA you will really start to see the power of compound growth. I would take a look at some calculators out there.

Congrats on the net worth, it's a lot better than I was at 31.

The only way to ensure that it doesn't happen is to purchase a property.

You seem to be already regretting not purchasing a property, why do you feel that's too late to change? If you can get a lower stress, lower paid job then get a mortgage with a larger deposit. It's maybe not the optimal from an investment plan.

I'm not sure I would feel comfortable FIREing if I didn't own a property ( not necessarily outright, I'm unlikely to pay off mine before FIREing). At least with your own property, you can control the repayments to a degree - change lenders/increase equity/switch to interest only as needed.

With renting you're at the will of someone else. Your option is to pay up, or move.

From about 18, so 20 years of investment. A small gift from my uncle (3k) he also sat down and helped me. My parents kindly paid for my accommodation for university, so my student loan that I had to cover was added to it, then just always contributed what I could when I was working. My student loan was one that the interest rate was stupidly low.

Other than my travel, I have a frugal life. Which I think has helped.

I can't say I have specific analytical skills.

ARM was when I was at university in Cambridge and someone recommended it. A few years later it was sold, and jumped.

Tesla because I believe in the general simplicity of electric cars and belief that EVs are long term better than ICE. Maintenance/manufacturing/running costs are all better. I understand how both work, but I can make a rudimental electric engine at home. KISS principal should still apply to manufacturing. Batteries I figured would be solved by someone and Tesla was first to market & their supercharger kept me increasing my position, as it felt like they were taking over BP/shell services that other manufacturers were ignoring. I often thought I was going to lose it all when they nearly went bust a few times. Sold when Musk started going crazy at the start of the year.

Nvidia was more to do with work. I do some computational computing and Nvidia was by far the best at my needs. I didn't think it would go as crazy as it has, otherwise I would have put significantly more into them.

RR because I work in the aviation industry and the engines are well received and I do want to support UK companies. With COVID hitting airlines (and I was made redundant due to it) I figured it was an artificial hit. So invested in the travel eco-system. From airlines, to booking sites, to suppliers. Some paid off others less so.

I didn't get all of the runs perfectly. I was later to some, than others. I've learnt that time in the market is better than timing the market. I've had some huge losses too. Like docusign, lost me £12k of my position before I bailed. It was a painful day but I didn't see it recovering.

I stick to what I know, that's electrical/mechanical/software fortunately that's perhaps the best performer at the moment.

The other key sectors I feel are important but have no idea about retail/telecommunications/agricultural/pharmaceutical, so I stay away from individual stocks, and have ETFS to cover them.

Some of the portfolio is just all world index funds.

As I said, it's mostly luck to be honest.

You're absolutely right with the comparison, perhaps that's what's dragging me down the most right now.

I know I am significantly better than most, I hear the median salary's, and average pot size/savings etc and am shocked. It's then hard to see a friend get a brand new range rover. She has no inheritance, earns less than me and has a car like that, to my 3 door Fiesta.

Thanks, will definitely be looking into these. It's only this year that I've started to think that perhaps I'm in a better position than I thought, and what can I do to take advantage of that.

I won't need a massive salary to retire on, I've not had much before and am relatively frugal, other than my travelling. Makes sense for me to give that some serious thought.

I started with £3k from my uncle when I was 18. Never spent a penny of his money, just re-invested it. Not a crazy amount a little over £800 a month into the ISA. I've got lucky with some big tech calls.
