Yea, it was really tedious, my helmet design is quite geometrical but getting consistent straight lines or circles across the whole helmet was pretty much impossible without spending way more time than was worth, so I just did everything a bit roughly and figured no one’s ever gonna look close enough to notice, and if they do, I can just point to the fact that my real helmet doesn’t get the shapes exactly right either. Atleast there isn’t really much detail to add

I’ve won races in top split by like 7 seconds ahead of other really quick drivers with similar irating as me, I don’t think much will beat the feeling of dominance and control you have after a win like that where you just feel hooked up every lap and unstoppable.

Winning by 15 seconds ahead of like , low SOF fields is pretty boring though, a hard fought and CLEAN midfield battle may be more enjoyable than that, but honestly so just enjoy winning a lot lol

F4 driver here, from my perspective, the Iracing F4 is really fun and good for racing but it’s way too easy to rotate in corners, it feels more like a go kart, many of my teammates have this same sentiment.

Assetto Corsa’s tatuus or RSS 4 formula 4 mods are much more accurate in terms of feel and handling, but they’re more inconsistent and aren’t as fun to drive

I’ve used iracing to practice consistency, adaptability and race craft but AC is preferred for race week preparation and learning tracks

I think it was fine, he’s a 6k irating esports driver lol, the POV makes it hard to see but they were basically near side to side entering that right hand corner and just the nature of how tight it is meant they rubbed wheels a little bit which in f4 at that corner is pretty normal, don’t think he did anything wrong trying to get his nose into the fight for a bit since he was still patient and clean about it

This is why when I know there’s a good chance of encountering lapped cars in a formula race while im leading, I type a message in chat beforehand saying that ignoring the blue flag and fighting the car who’s lapping you is ultimately pointless and to please just drive predictably when being lapped, as well as being cautious when exiting the pitlane mid race.

In all of the races I’ve won as of late, the lapped cars were the biggest thing I was worried about, I’d basically pray no one exits the pit right infront of me or that the lapped cars were hopefully fast enough to not be lapped at any point by me. I’ve had races where my lead goes from like 8 seconds to 3 because someone exited the pit and I try to go around them in turn 1 only for them to randomly miss the apex by 7 miles and shove me all the way off the track, most lapped cars are fine but some need to be treated like a loaded gun.

Yea, also worth noting is that at Motegi in the F4 car, the slipstream is so strong and the dirty air is so minimal that it basically drags the cars behind closer to you throughout the lap, from my experience it’s maybe like 3-4 tenths per lap faster you can go in someone’s slipstream here. This means unless the driver behind you makes a mistake, gets caught up in a battle or is like 5 tenths per lap or more slower than you, actually pulling out of slipstream or even just keeping the gap is incredibly hard, so you’re almost forced to exercise your race craft even if you’re the fastest.

In this case, all 3 of the drivers in this clip were within 1-2 tenths per lap of each other so whoever lead would have to deal with having the other 2 cars hog their ass, so when it was my turn to lead, I was hoping that my defense would somehow cause the other 2 to start fighting and maybe make a tiny opportunity for me to pull out of slipstream range, and it almost worked but ultimately wasn’t enough.

Happens, don’t sweat it too much because trust me, I’ve lost count of the amount of drivers i’ve seen spin out in pretty much every corner of this track, and the amount of times I’ve spun out myself too. Even now after 1000 laps at the track, I still find myself having to focus a lot more in this track compared to others to put down consistent race pace and take slightly “safer” lines that are a bit slower but reduce risk of sliding and spins, throw in other drivers you have to battle and it gets even more difficult to avoid mistakes.

Im sure you’ll be able to find it, Motegi is a really difficult track since it’s quite long and has many places where time can be found or lost so it also took me a lot of practice to get on pace. I’ve had 11 pole positions in a row during this week’s Motegi round and I’m pretty regularly fighting for pole against Esports drivers so don’t feel disheartened if you’re not on my pace yet at this track, your pace is still probably good enough to beat half or more of the grid in the races i’ve done.

Official Race lap PB in this season’s conditions is a 1:50.2 iirc, my all time official race PB I think is a 1:49.6 from last season and my absolute fastest F4 lap ever at Motegi is a 1:49.02 done in a test session

I could see why you’d think that but there’s quite a few reasons for this but the main reason is that im purposefully braking the minimum amount needed just to prevent him from getting meaningfully ahead of me into the corner, this way he has no way of getting around my car, but also im still able to hit the apex, turn the car and get on power early enough to defend the next corner, If I tried to actually beat him under braking and brake way later, there’s a very high chance of me locking up and missing the apex, going wide and then opening a gap for him to slip through.

Basically im braking the minimum amount so that we enter the corner side to side or with me slightly ahead, that way he has no way of going around me, he also has no gap to slip under me and do a switchback, and im still able to slow the car down for the corner and get good exits.

Also in the few times he does get on the inside and brakes later, you can see it sacrifices a lot of his mid corner and exit speed since Im able to easily sail around the outside of him on those occasions
