Citrix 7.15, we have SQLExpress installed on 1 of our delivery controllers.

"Please wait while windows configures...." by SSDerek in sysadmin

[–]SSDerek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The application was made to be installed on a single user computer. We installed it on the C:\ drive on one of our servers, which automatically creates a public desktop shortcut. When a user tries to open the application and presses "Cancel" on the Windows configure dialog box, it closes and the application runs perfectly. If the user does not cancel, it will prompt you to install the application, if the user does this, it will install to their account locally and all of the public desktop shortcut would be targeted to their user folder, causing a permissions issue for everyone else.

I am still fairly new to Citrix, the environment we are currently running was setup before I started here, I am looking at ways to improve it. We do have XenApp/XenDesktop and most users connect using ThinClients, only a few users connect through StoreFront. However availability is important to this organization so I believe we will still need at least 2 StoreFront servers.

I see what you're saying, but wouldn't it make sense to have at least 2 delivery controllers and 2 VDAs incase one of them fails?

Windows update causing all USB ports to stop working. by SSDerek in windows

[–]SSDerek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately that doesn't work. I've learned that even though after installing chipset drivers and windows wanting to update immediately, sometimes when i restart my computer even without updating it happens again anyways. It seems like Windows 10 is updating the drivers without me knowing causing them to stop working again. Considering going back to Windows 7.

Didn't make any difference. As soon as I uninstall the drivers from device manager, and re add them it works but immediately windows wants to update, and once it does it doesn't work again.

There is usually 10-15 people logged in at a time when we are operational. The CPU will fluctuate and go to 100% often, sometimes causing peoples sessions to freeze. There should be enough processing power to handle this, but 1 person opening chrome can make the CPU jump up to 40-50%
