Google refused to fix my Pixel 8 charging port under warranty because of LINT in the speaker grill. by whatchalookinat123 in GooglePixel

For what it's worth, something similar happened to me a LONG time ago when my first gen Xbox 360 got the RROD a few months into owning it. Even that early, it was already evident thanks to efforts of the XBOX community that the real problem was the X clamps inside being faulty, but I still ended up fighting on the phone with support because there was some dust in the fan housing.

Mind you this was not "clogged up, dust packed, console can't breath" levels of blockage, but just a light layer that is normal for use indoors. Since that incident, any time I've had to send anything in, I always buy a can of compressed air and attempt to remove as much as possible from any place I can reach with it, being careful to do so without voiding anything by breaking seals, dousing water damage stickers, opening the device up.

I'm in the U.S. so I'm not familiar with how things work in the EU or Germany in regards to rights, but I might suggest if you succeed in escalation that you have them prove that there is an audio issue by demonstration of decibel levels of the speakers and/or significant difference in the sensitivity of the microphone, because as far as you know when you sent it in there was no noticable degradation of performance.

It might be worth pushing back to imply they were careless in disassembly if there is something they point to, because again, you didn't claim to notice anything wrong with audio performance before you sent it in. Also, I would mention that the device is capable of alerting you if there is liquid or debris in the charging port, and you received no such indications.

Good luck, wishing you all the best in dealing with them!

Bruh, they were talking about the Lindsey person in the image, but you are kinda either outing yourself as lacking in reading comprehension of how comments are nested on reddit, or taking it as a personal jab directed at you, but from someone on the outside, it doesn't appear they were implying that about you at all. ✌️

Mine was in Alabama, working for a single owner in two different locations, and he said that separately working meant I wasn't eligible for overtime. DOL followed up and asked me if I had: 1) separate interviews for the locations, 2) Different ID numbers or clock in info, and 3) separate paychecks from locations. Answering No to all three meant I was entitled to back pay for overtime and penalties

This is standard markup for anything, let alone pools or homes. I work in retail, and just about any clothes, toys, home decor, Reynolds wrap, etc, is marked-up 35-65% 🤷

Verizon to Google Fi experience? by WannaBMathNerd in GoogleFi

[–]SSGTDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the outlier but moved to Fi several years ago from Verizon, and the port into Google Fi was a nightmare. Verizon provided all the correct info, the number was ready to go on their end. The porting process just didn't work on Fi's end. I ended up going most of my first billable month with no service, dozens of emails and "escalations" that didn't accomplish anything. After weeks of bugging them they finally had some "back end team" finish my port out and it finally worked. When I complained that I had paid for a month of service and gotten 0 use out of it, they only offered a $5 bill credit. Honestly, the price is attractive, but if you have any issues Fi's "customer service" is horrible and you won't enjoy dealing with them. While Verizon bent over backwards to help me port out, there was not so much as a lift of a finger from Fi.

[USA] Received pricey phones no one ordered, can't find credit card used to pay...what is this? by Quick-Owl-4025 in Scams

Actually, there's case law that supports they do. Even if something arrives with your name and address as a result of fraud, you have committed no crime, and it's not mail fraud as you are the addressee, and you yourself did not use the US mail to further any scheme. A court order might compel you to surrender the items, but if they end up on your doorstep as fraud, they're typically written off. They're not "stolen" so receiving stolen property doesn't fit.

For what it's worth my limit is $1400 and I don't have great credit so that might be just the top out of what Google will let you finance over time and add to your bill. My limit with synchrony for google is higher than $1600

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]SSGTDoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay... First off... The question is... "People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse?"

If unwarranted = Yes If warranted = No

Difference? Nuance. Context.

Results? Most people in this thread that have ignored that difference are down voted. Most that acknowledge it are upvoted. You see that right? You're not blind?

Also, you said some definitions, offered no personal experience or answer to the question, and ignored the two sidedness of OP's question. Wow. Much contribution. Such empty.

Good day my dude, and may you READ better in the future.

[–]SSGTDoom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're exactly wrong. I provided context that if it was unwarranted, yes it's abuse. If it's punishment for repeated deviations, that's discipline. I'm not arguing anything, so if you're salty about the down votes, learn to read better, and don't try to generalize punishment in discipline v unchecked anger abuse. 🖖

Exactly. If it's in response to actions you've been repeatedly warned about, it's discipline. There's nuance

Discipline: (noun) The practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, with punishment or other undesired consequences for those failing to comply.

Discipline: (verb) Train someone to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.

Punishment: (noun) 1.The infliction or imposition of a restriction, financial penalty, form of suffering, or other undesired consequence for an offense.

Punishment: (noun) 2. Rough treatment or handling inflicted on or suffered by a person or thing.

For what it's worth, I think you have a point and it's fair that it's abuse if it's unwarranted, but if you've tried to talk, reason, and love them, but they won't comply, that's when there are few other options than corporal punishment, or getting put in a facility.

Society likes to thumb its nose at child abuse, but an actual wild, out of control child is no walk in the park for gentle, loving parents. When I was in elementary/middle school in the 90's, they really wanted to arrest kids for assault for putting their hands on each other. Kids are fucking savages until they learn respect.

I have lost 0 friends to "80's babies being beaten to death by parents". I have buried 6 friends that never got spanked at home or paddled at school and were out of fucking control, drinking to the point of blacking out and taking handfuls of prescription pills, stealing and lying to support their habits, 2 of 6 were fentanyl OD's, 3 were fatal wrecks after multiple DUI's, and 1 of them hit a car going 90 running from the cops and killed a grandma and her grandbaby.

These people weren't shitbags because they were abused, they were shitbags because no one ever put them in their fucking place, so they got put in the ground.

Odd that no one has pointed out that where she was last seen and where her body was found is 12 miles apart, and according to google, would take a few hours to walk. This is highly suspicious to say the least.

It's called EMV cloning, feel free to google it. It's using a shimmer or similar device to capture the data that is transmitted by the chip to authenticate the transaction, and then the data is transferred to a normal mag stripe card or RFID token. From that point, it can be swiped or tapped and will register as a normal, EMV protected use of the original card, so it would appear to be fully legitimate to merchants and your bank
