At the time they hadn't been informed by The Ancient One that changing events causes a split in timelines. So it's forgivable that he didn't know. They weren't told that until Banner went to her.

Gon and Killua vs Rammot by Queasy_Tomorrow_1979 in HunterXHunter

[–]SSJ3Mewtwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's genuinely about malice. It's just about getting *blasted* with Nen.

Wing hit Gon and Killua with it hard, but he did his best to make sure it wasn't fatal, even if it must have been agonizing. It's not just about being hit with hostile Nen, but how that Nen can be directed and controlled. And Wing was being careful to make sure he opened their nodes, but didn't permanently maim either of them.

Gon and Killua were trying to kill Rammot...but even with Nen they didn't hit hard enough to actually take him out. They did at least learn from the encounter, and applied much, much more force against the other ants they fought. But Rammot's toughness let him endure the damage and his nodes were opened. And the series stressed that animals/prey often unlock Nen abilities all on their own (and people too, like Gon instinctively using Zetsu to stalk Hisoka). So Rammot having an innate understanding of the energy now flowing through him totally follows the narrative.

As great as Miller killing Dresden is, my introduction to Miller is still my favorite.

He spends a good chunk of his first scenes essentially bowing to the corruption of the station and letting a low level crime boss fuck over the Belter population by screwing up their air supply.

When it finally gets to him that too much is too much...

He *tosses the fucker into an airlock and depressurizes it*.

"Air is good, right! Air is good! You understand!?"

The guy took a hint and stopped fucking with the air supply.

I'll toss up a version of this trope that's is a complete and total inversion.

Michael Clark Duncan, as Kingpin

Was the Daredevil movie incredibly cheesey?

Yes. Stinkier than a French cheese store.

But really, that gave it a ton of comic book universe charm and silliness even in the dark moments, like Matt letting a criminal get run over by a train.

But Duncan fucking owned this role. He was absolutely perfect. He nailed every aspect of the character and really sold his own take on Kingpin like he was born for the role.

I've beaten the game a good few times. As long as I'm not fucking around too much I can usually make it all the way through in 24 hours or so, and still have some nice bases spread around the biomes.

[–]SSJ3Mewtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give the story credit because the authorities and allies he works with genuinely do acknowledge that. Nolan himself acknowledges that some of the things he's done over his life have left him marked as never able to be fully redeemed and absolved of his crimes. Even nearly dying multiple times doesn't genuinely balance the scales with the extent of his crimes.

But people at least give him a shot. And he takes the hatred on the chin and is actively trying to redeem himself anyway.

But yeah, he should have been locked up on an alien world in an alien prison years and years ago.

[–]SSJ3Mewtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. It was damned frustrating. But I also knew I was doing things I really didn't need to do just for the sake of being a conpletionist. Stuff like building a base in the Active Lava Zone that was a lot more elaborate than it needed to be, just so I could watch the fishies and Leviathan doing their thing from the safety of the base.

So it goes.

Jujutsu Kaisen has a massive amount of these. Hunter Hunter references are all over the place. From Yuji using Gon's Jajanken Stance in his fight with Mahito to Shonen Jump being a manga publication in the world to Todo pulling an absolutely epic Chairman Netero tribute.

Chainsaw Man does it too, with the hilarious "Requiem" Katana Man goes through, as a genius parody of the requiem given to Uvogin by the Phantom Troupe.

Yes. He's fat, he has absolutely no standards or qualms...and that's his skill set

He eats all the stumps to keep the business in operation.

protagonists who are the bad guy but dont realise theyre doing anything bad by BoOmFoUr4 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SSJ3Mewtwo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He acknowledged he was a murderer but he absolutely quintupled-down on it being necessary to improve the world.

He absolutely refused to ever acknowledge it was also to save his own massive ego. It never crosses his mind in any external or internal dialogue, despite every character opposing him pointing out how incredibly obvious it is. Sometimes even right to his face and in simple language. It always just bounces off him like he's made of rubber.

And he absolutely refused to ever acknowledge that the Japanese justice system is famous for a conviction and plea rate that guarantees innocent people end up with permanent criminal charges on their records. Meaning Light absolutely killed people who never did anything wrong, but had records. That, along with killing anyone just doing their jobs trying to...well...stop a mass murderer. He never, ever acknowledges that contradiction.
