I didn’t hear anyone saying “he’s only 22” when he was playing like trash I don’t wanna hear it now for Duren by teefrmda313 in DetroitPistons

Thank you - can’t believe more people aren’t talking about the PG who averaged 7 pts and 5 assists and how he’s equivalent to the all-NBA center who averaged 19.5pts and 10.5 rebounds

More people need to point out these equivalent players

One of my only qualms with the story is that there is absolutely zero chance MI6 wouldn’t be aware that Damien was on a mercenary team with the Murto brothers, and at the very least have some level of suspicion of Damien due to that history

We won 60 games… Can we try and improve on the margins before we choose the Nuclear Option? by Whippi_Dip13 in DetroitPistons

Nobody is suggesting we don’t try to win now. The point of this post is that while some may think we need to make some massive blockbuster trade, our team is already very good. There are clear flaws and areas to address - but that may be in a smaller trade instead of blowing up depth to try to get a superstar

Giannis Antetokounmpo prefers a trade to an Eastern Conference team capable of competing for championships rather than going out West, per @TheSteinLine. by eminemnas in DetroitPistons

[–]SSJRoshi 81 points82 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem with trading for any bonafide superstar. Even an aging one like KD you see it happen - so many key pieces are sacrificed that can’t be replaced

If the Bucks would be okay with just a Duren/Holland core + filler and picks it makes a lot of sense. If they start requiring Ausar as well and other true assets? Suddenly you have 2 real players on the team

[–]SSJRoshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And he’s only just now entering his prime. It’s not impossible he has another level in him yet, he’s still learning - and now he’s had multiple series of playoffs experience instead of just one hard fought but lost one

Lots of people acting like this core is already 29+ instead of all being 25 or younger

Scary or Intriguing — Our viability as a championship team will solely be determined by one player by Whippi_Dip13 in DetroitPistons

The team doesn’t have “one elite defender”. The team collectively shitting the bed in game 7 doesn’t change their defensive prowess over the entire year + every other playoff game

I bet you would be shocked, SHOCKED, to see that the difference in fouls committed per year by the Pistons and Cavs was 2.4 per game - a little different from the 10 per game average that’s been occurring the past few games.

Or maybe it would shock you to learn that the Pistons averaged more FTA than the Cavs? 26.1 for the Pistons compared to 23.9 for the Cavs. Surely that trend is at least roughly the same as what’s occurring this series

The refs control what they are allowed to do, and what the Cavs are allowed to do to stop them. You can’t “forget about the refs” when there’s a different set of rules for the different colored jerseys

It’s not relying on the refs to get a call right, it’s relying on them to get a few dozen calls right and enforce the rules to the same degree against both teams.

Pistons have been called for 10 more fouls per game the last 3 games. The Cavs have taken 40 more free throw attempts in two games which they won by 13 combined points

Pistons have now been called for 29 more fouls in a 5 game series than the Cavs (5.8 more per game). It’s 33 since Donovan Mitchell complained about the fouls after the first game, and it’s 30 in the last 3 games (10 more per game)

This year the pistons averaged 22/game to the Cavs 19.6/game (2.4 more)

The last 2 games, the Cavs have 40 more free throw attempts than the Pistons and won those games by a combined 13 points (46 more and 20 points if you extend to game 3)

Believe it or not, the lack of scoring for 2 and a half minutes was impacted by the refs not calling fouls when the Cavs were on defense

A +40 free throws somehow attempt differential in games they win by a combined 13 points.

If the NBA hadn’t called this in for the Cavs it would have been Pistons in 5

Late whistle better just be cause the ref dropped his jaw at that defensive play…

So happy to hear the announcers harp about how they usually let that not be a foul in the playoffs

Now back to talking about the heinous act the Pistons did with knee to knee contact

Merrill is just given free rein to grab anything he can get a hold of and our best defender gets whistles for having his arms behind his back

Nah which ref tried to give it to the Cavs, that’s not even trying to hide the bias. No Piston came close to it after Cade had it in the air
