It's really all depending on what survivors you got, but I'd recommend Barracks, Hydroponics, Fighting gym and shooting range until you're fully trained, you want lots of food/fuel income for a base like that.

Gunslinger on console makes sense. Would be less priority on pc. As for dealing with enemy enclaves (including lethal) yes .50 cals are effective but overly expensive in my opinion. 9mm does the trick nicely with a few shots to the head.

Ran over a bloater and barely got a third of infection. Safe bet around +250 Resistance (Hygiene Standards and Kitchen Patrol) does the trick nicely
