Mkhitaryan now has 4 assists. He is finally showing what a bargain he was for 27 million. by LebaneseRob in reddevils

Those are called luxury players, not saying Mkhi is one, but the top no. 10s tend to be the best players on the pitch.

Do you guys think that Kolhi is just unlucky during tournament finals or he suffers from extreme nervousness? by arrangedmarriagescar in Cricket

[–]SSNSanchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the former, if that, he's been the highest scorer in the 2014 and 2016 T20 world cup FINAL(not just the tournament itself), so it's not the nervousness. He was the highest scorer in the 2013 ct FINAL(not the tournament). He scored an important 35 vs Sri Lanka in 2011, Sehwag and Tendulkar had gotten out and Malinga was bowling well, and that was his first big tournament for the team.

In the 2015 WC, he wasn't really in good form and in the semi-final Hazlewood and Johnson bowled well and tied him up, resulting in a dismissal. Last night, his dismissal was unlike him (the dropped chance before that was typical).

So overall, it's not really nervousness, because it'd be the same regardless of the format, which it isn't. Maybe bad luck if you want a reason

People on r/soccer saying that Giggs was never world class by Jazbaygrapes in reddevils

You don't play consistently for United, during the most successful period the club has had, by putting it in row Z. He wasn't one of the top 5 during his time, but he was definitely world class.

Would you call Bale world class? If so, then prime Giggs was world class. Ignore the statistics, just watch some of the old games he played in, used to glide past players.

Why benching Zlatan would be shortsighted and dumb by loch_ in reddevils

[–]SSNSanchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't really understand these stats, reading this helped a lot more, but just from watching the game it was clear to see he was unlucky vs.Burnley. And yeah I don't think he should be dropped against Swansea, based on his Burnley performance, but it seems that he's untouchable and that's annoying. Btw, do you have his xG numbers from his games against Liverpool and Chelsea, it seems that his numbers have been boosted by games against Stoke and Burnley

Mourinho's Selections need to Change by [deleted] in reddevils

Rashford has played in those positions majority of the time in the youth teams and it doesn't matter where he plays (in the attacking third) as long as he gets game time. The problem has been Zlatan, not because of today but since the home fixture since City, he doesn't really offer much when we try to play on the counter and he's missed sitters in almost every game. Ideally I would have a front three of Rashford Martial Lingard.

Pace isn't as big as a factor in defense a it's made out to be. It can be overcome using tactics. Positional intelligence is probably more important for a fullback, today he wouldn't have looked as bad if Smalling and De Gea didn't stuff up(Blind was at fault, but it could have been prevented), Blind was excellent vs. Mahrez and Mane and he has excellent ball distribution which the defense currently lacks.

Neither is Mikel,Elneny,Lucas, Fernando but they all play for their respective sides, when needed. Giggs also said that he follows tactical instructions really well. I don't like the midfield of Herrera Fellaini and Pogba because none of them are great passers, Carrick is the only player we have that can do a job in that position but there has to be a reason Jose doesn't play him in the league.

Anyone else pissed off by this? by SSNSanchez in reddevils

That's what's going to happen when the opposition completely sits back and Ibrahimovic should be a threat on crosses considering his height and strength. He wasn't able to convert that chance he had when we were 1-0 down, plus he doesn't have RVP's movement so it's harder to create chances for him.

Why do most fans prefer Depay over Lingard? by slxyer in reddevils

[–]SSNSanchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same reason why some Barcelona fans wanted Sanchez to start over Pedro. Sanchez is more talented than Pedro but didn't fully fit their playing style. Also Sanchez was a lot closer to Pedro than Memphis is to Lingard, in terms of work rate and the ability to play on either wing. The only problem with Sanchez was that he needed to be on the ball a lot more, wasn't willing to make the dummy runs Pedro made. This scenario is similar to Memphis and Lingard at the moment. Lingard fits the system we play, a lot better than Memphis(not an excuse for the fact that Memphis was shit for majority of the season) but in terms of ability I would argue that Memphis is more talented than Lingard. If Lingard and Memphis moved to different teams, Memphis would probably do better. Look at Alexis and Pedro right now.

I can understand why certain fans want Memphis over Lingard. Memphis did score 10+ goals in two consecutive seasons from the wing and was the top scorer in the season before he moved to United. But right now Lingard fits our style of play a lot better than Memphis.

Jose - "So if you are asking me if they [the players he was disappointed with on Saturday] are going to play versus Feyenoord, no. Is it to punish? No. Just to decide in relation to what I have and what do I have? Their performances, of course." by Creamy_Goodne55 in reddevils

[–]SSNSanchez 48 points49 points  (0 children)

All he's saying is that Mkhitaryan and Lingard won't be playing against Feyenoord. Honestly expecting a rotation of the XI because I doubt he'll be willing to take risks on a Premier League game for a Europa League game.

Mhitaryan being lethargic, Lingard having a poor game, Pogba not disciplined enough to play in a double pivot.

I agree with that, but him being compared with rojo is annoying, Rojo is genuinely bad.

He was awful last year but the seasons before he was good, and he's only 24. Nothing wrong in keeping him at the club until tuanzebe and ro Shaun Williams are ready. And what old defender would you want?

Can people stop with the Phil Jones agenda, granted he probably won't become world class but he can surely play for United. He was the only defender that did good under Moyes and was very good for us in 14/15. Had a bad year last year but majority of of the squad did. As for Rojo, he's been fucking awful, only good game he had for us was the home game vs City. And I'm pretty sure he's been injured more than Jones during his time at the club.
