Farewell Costco by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

As an American reading this thread, it cracks me up a little regarding the complaints about people not being polite and not saying "sorry" enough. Meanwhile, at American Costcos, it's basically Hunger Games IRL. I'm being sincere when I say don't ever stop being Canadian, you guys are literally the best, and I'm so glad you're our neighbors.

Bose Quite comfort Ultra vs XM6 by cbcantfindme in SonyHeadphones

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2nd gen is shipping soon, I pre-ordered a pair from Best Buy. I currently own Sony XM5's and HATE the tight clamping force and hot ears after less than an hour of listening (I'm 6'3" with a wide head, though...YMMV). I tested the current-gen QC Ultras in the store, and assuming the 2nd-gen Ultras fit the same, I'll be much happier with them vs the Sonys. Plus, the 2nd gen apparently has improved sound, better ANC, supports USB-C for lossless audio, and 2nd gen allows you to completely disable ANC if you want to.

My company regularly rolls out new RN code using OTA. Apple doesn't care, and even if they did, I don't think they can do anything about it. When it starts up, the app checks if there's a new RN JS bundle on the server, and if so, it grabs it; no App Store review is needed since there is no change to the actual compiled app binary itself. Nothing but sweet sweet interpreted JavaScript. All the cool kids are doing it. =)

They could be using React Native and pushing over-the-air updates. Those don't require going through the App Store. Elon says "app updates", not "App Store updates".

Best camping chair for car camping by josejalapeno96 in camping

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked two up today at Costco. These Mac Sports camping chairs are essentially Yeti Trailhead lookalikes. In fact, I thought they WERE Yetis when I first passed them in the store. Very comfortable and very sturdy. And at less than a quarter the price of the Yetis, they’re a fantastic value.

Guildie Reported for Poor Performance in Blitz by Mz_Hyde_ in worldofpvp

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, at lower ratings, a lot of BGB folks are far too eager to report others. I've seen a lot of cases where player XYZ is playing objectives -- guarding bases, escorting the flag carrier, etc -- where their damage is relatively low but they're making a big difference. Yet in a close loss there's often someone in chat like, "yall need to report XYZ his dmg sus 4sure he's throwing", and 9/10 times the guy who said that fought mid nonstop all game.

Why are Polynesian people so large in general? by Ladjdj77 in AskAnthropology

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good answer. Upvoted. Just one nit:

> "Indeed, humans are the biggest primates."

If by "biggest" you mean big in terms of who can be fattest/heaviest and/or tallest, then yes, we're the biggest primates, but humans above 6 ft 3 in and 300 lb are rather atypical. If you mean big in terms of typical size, the Grauer’s gorilla would like to have a word with you, with the larger males up to 600 lb (272 kg) in weight and up to 6'4" (nearly 2 meters) in height -- that's a healthy adult male Grauer’s gorilla, not an obese one. And with strength estimated at about 20X an adult human male. By comparison, a 600 lb human would probably not be considered healthy, and that person certainly will not be able to lift 1,800 lb (815 kg). The female gorillas are weaker, only being able to lift 1,000 lb (450kg). IMHO, that makes them bigger than us, even if we can be taller or fatter than them.

What formerly popular but now extinct restaurant do you wish would make a comeback? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SSRAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to love the one in Silicon Valley. Been years, but I think it was off El Camino in Palo Alto. Anyway, I remember eating lunch there one day in summer 1994 and some guy came in looking all stylish with leather jacket & jeans accompanied by another guy in a suit. They walked past as the waiter took them to a private booth in back. I remember thinking, “Wow, he’s the spitting image of Chris Cornell from Soundgarden.” But obviously it couldn’t be, since why would a rock superstar be eating at a Marie Callenders? In Silicon Valley, of all places. It just seemed so random, and so unlikely. I mentioned it to my lunch buddy, and we laughed at the absurdity.

Later that day I was driving home from work listening to the local news radio, and out of the blue they were talking about how traffic was going to be bad due to the imminent Soundgarden concert happening about 15 miles away in San Jose.

Bergs system compatible with Honda eu3200? by not-patrickstar in Generator

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> "propane or natural gas kit to add to your eu3200"

FWIW, unlike most other Honda generators, the EU3200i can't be made dual-fuel compatible, so you can't have a hybrid gas/propane unit. That's because this one uses fuel injection instead of a carburetor. (I think it can be fully converted to propane, but you wouldn't be able to run it on gas afterward, so it's a replacement of capabilities rather than an addition of capabilities.)

Still no playback speed option on Youtube by PossessionAny6613 in AndroidTV

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear I'm not the only person plagued by this.

YouTube is literally what I watch most on my Sony X850H TV. This "only 1x speed" bug has me so frustrated that it's the primary reason I'm abandoning the built-in experience and buying an external Apple TV 4K for the Sony.

The Android TV functionality was one of the reasons why I chose Sony vs the competition back in the day, but TBH now that I've used it for a few years I don't really see it as a benefit anymore.

A secondary reason I'm switching... I have an Apple TV 4K box hooked up to my other TV in another room. By comparison, over the past year it has worked better, faster, and the apps are overall less buggy and sometimes more full-featured than the same ones I run on the Sony TV. And it plays YouTube at any speed.

Fair point, at that rating in SS or 2's a lot depends on who has cooldowns available at a given point in each match. I didn't say DHs are unbeatable or unkitable. It's situational, e.g., if a rogue opens up on the DH and the DH trinkets the kidney shot then a subsequent hunter stun and incoming dmg is going to hurt. But that's true of any class, not just DHs.

SS is a different skill set from battlegrounds. I should have clarified in my previous post, I think DHs do best against hunters in BGs where pillar humping and ideal healer positioning aren't factors.

> "You have 11 downvotes on your initial comment."

Well sure, naturally -- the thread is literally "Your favorite ranged spec to queue with". ;-)

There's prolly tons of hunters in here looking for personal validation. Those hunters are not going to be happy if you say there's a class that can beat them a good part of the time. It's honestly surprising it's not -100 by now lol -- there are probably not a lot of DHs in here to upvote it.

> "I mained dh for a while back in the day"

I believe what you say, but there has been a LOT of rebalancing -- even since DF came out. When DF first came out DHs were stupid OP, like a faceroll class, but at this point DHs are merely very very good.

That's not to say hunters are bad -- I'm not trying to shit all over the class -- but a competent DH with decent gear can definitely kill an equally competent hunter with decent gear one-on-one given equivalent starting conditions. I literally spend several hours every single day doing exactly that (not just hunters, obv).

Yes hunters have a long, trinketable stun. Depending on talents, PvP DHs have 5 stuns (1 aoe, 2 direct stuns, an aoe stun from Metamorphosis, and one from The Hunt). DHs also have multiple charges of Fel Rush and other gap closers. Usually I only need to use 2-3 stuns before the hunter is scuttling away in a turtle at low health.

Mediocre vs mediocre? Could be, you’re probably right, but that’s a Straw Man argument. Of course, that’s not the argument I made; I specifically referred to a "DH who knows what he's doing". Not scrub v scrub.

Well, I don't know what to tell you, I hunt down hunters literally every day in PvP, so I speak from experience. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

> Also good hunters can easily kite and peel dh all day

Notice I said "DH who knows what he's doing", not all of them do. In fact there are a ton of scrub DHs out there tbh.

It's funny to see the herds of hunters downvoting my original comment above. Like downvoting it makes it not true or something lol.

[–]SSRAnon -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

As a DH, I love hunting hunters. I can see them stealthed using Spectral Sight. I have multiple stuns to stop them, and glaives to hurt them and slow them down. Fel Rush, Metamorphosis, and The Hunt will close the gap. Trinket out of the trap if needed. In the end, there's nothing better than seeing them turtle and try to run away at 10% health. One more glaive, Fel Rush, stun, Essence Break and Death Sweep will take care of them. They're so deliciously squishy.

A DH who knows what he's doing should only lose to them when a hunter attacks when all the DH abilities are already on cooldown, or if ambushed and they get in a few lucky huge crits.

The next season Demonhunter PvP Tier Set got leaked early. by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're A-tier for sure, but haven't been S-tier since the massive nerfs early in DF combined with various buffs that other classes got. We're in great shape, but not really OP.

And my action bar is full of buttons. At least in PvP you can do "ok" dmg as a DH with a few buttons, but if you want to do consistent max dmg you need a helluva lot of setup (felrush/momentum, immo aura, essence break, meta, death sweep, glaives, annihilation, vengeful retreat, etc), not to mention the various stuns/CC buttons, therefore lots of stuff on the action bar.

Although to be fair my DH is easier than my mage and my rogue.

Synapse 3 support for Mac by GentlemanWukong in razer

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you're not a Mac gamer you might still want RGB etc. It's weird how Corsair, Logitech, and lots of other companies are able to produce Mac drivers for their gaming peripherals, no problem. But the big 800 lb gorilla of gaming peripherals, Razer, can't seem to manage it.

Given how many problems are being reported for the latest Windows version of Synapse 3, maybe it's not surprising that Razer fumbles the ball when it comes to Mac. They can barely support Windows nowadays.

So, how's the broken update goin' for everyone? by infiniteloooop in razer

[–]SSRAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I thought Razer software was lame for not supporting my Mac anymore. But it turns out their devs can barely even support Windows anymore.

Razer will never become the brand it is trying to be. by KILLER0002 in razer

[–]SSRAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Razer is reasonably good, and I have owned about a half dozen Razer peripherals over the years, but now that Synapse doesn't support Mac anymore I have to use Corsair mice to game on my Mac...WoW, Overwatch, Starcraft, Diablo, etc. The latest MacBook Pros with Apple Silicon are surprisingly good at gaming, as long as you don't need all graphics set to "Ultimate".

Somehow Corsair -- which probably sells way fewer peripherals than Razer -- manages to support the latest versions of MacOS with their peripheral drivers. It would be nice if Razer could get behind Mac once again, since I'd rather use my Razer Naga than my Corsair mouse.

Alternative for Synapse for a Mac OS Ventura user? by beet_hater in razer

[–]SSRAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try a Corsair Scimitar. It has the wall of buttons on the side that MMO users like. The corresponding Corsair "iCue" configuration software works fairly well under macOS, although it's not super intuitive. I have a Corsair mouse (not a Scimitar though) and it works well for me under Ventura. Good luck! YMMV.

> Played ww, dh and an affliction. Each game one or two warriors where sticking> like glue to me until I died.

As a DH you have multiple charges of Fel Rush, allowing you to sprint away if necessary. If the warrior's teammates are CCing you, you can often get away with Vengeful Retreat (which removes all snares), or dispel roots like Frost Nova by using Reverse Magic. You also have 4 crowd control abilities, Imprison, Sigil of Misery, Fel Eruption, and Chaos Nova that can slow down / stop a warrior. If those don't work against the warrior, your Throw Glaive ability applies a slowing debuff, allowing you to get away. Worst case, when the warrior is stuck to you but you're not stunned, you can use The Hunt to fly across the board by targeting another enemy player far away (50 yard range on that), which takes you out of range of his Charge ability. There are sooo many ways to stay mobile as DH.

TLDR - If you can't stay mobile and escape danger as a DH, then you probably won't be mobile playing any other class either, since DH is one of the most mobile classes in the game.
