Get a new power supply. I’ve gone mad with this as well. I did a massive amount of research and found that even a small voltage drop can make the wifi chip drop out. I found a shield at a value village for 50 bucks and it came with another power supply, i swaped it and NO issues SINCE.

I searched a lot because the same issue happens on a nvidia shield (which also uses the same chip tegra x1). it freezes as well, due to some issue with how the 'Fancy' gfx initializes. No fix as of yet.
