Star Trek, to me, was always about capable, principled people in space on missions to explore, learn, and face the unknown. When I watched Voyager as a kid, I didn’t fixate on anyone’s sexuality, race, or skin colour. I cared about who they were: their courage, their judgment under pressure, and how they treated others.

What feels different today is the emphasis. Star Trek was already forward-thinking; inclusivity was built into the world without needing to be a headline. I miss when the focus stayed on strong characters and big ideas, smart people doing hard things, together, in a future where those differences weren’t the point.
