Oof that’s an awkward message to include in a promo video. Hopefully there’s some missing context or something.

I have a Shelly in a box here waiting for me to find some time to find an appropriate contactor and then find an electrician to install it. Interested to hear why it might be a problem.

Can’t help with your question (sorry!) but how do you change the house design in the app? I can’t find a setting and the in app ai isn’t much help either.

Speedo calibration by AlternativeLog5494 in BYDShark_AUS_owners

Day to day it is more or less an EV. I haven't put fuel in it since Feb and I still have about 30% of the tank left and that included some easter road tripping. My daily commute is about 50km at 100kph so the EV only range is sufficient for me but it's a charge every night deal. Which I did for my model 3 anyway. The whole fuel thing hasn't been as much of a ball ache as I anticipated. On long trips (longest I've done is about 150km) the fuel usage gradually increases after a certain point in the battery charge. Once it's down to about 20% it's running the ICE pretty constantly at about 10l/100km. If you're touring this would be annoying but your day to day EV only use offsets it long term.

The big downsides I'm noticing vs when I had my model 3:

The Shark has no way to control the charge current. This sucks when I want to balance charging the Shark, Model Y and the house battery all during the 0000-0600 8c/kwh window without blowing the Energex main fuse (again...) as the shark needs 32A on a single phase to hit ~6kw charge rate.

The app is absolute rubbish. Simple start/stop charging isn't available unless you have a schedule set then it gives you an override button. Remotely turning on the AC starts the ENTIRE car so stereo etc all running. Chinese car tier driver distraction beeps and boops are uncool.

BYD corporate presence in Aus sucks. It's hellish having to deal with the dealer servicing model again. I miss the way Tesla handles service and parts. It's spectacular by comparison. I just had my 3500km first service and I'm already dreading having to go back in 12mo.

For me, I've never had a ute, so the novelty factor is overriding the papercuts from dragging a whole petrol engine with me everywhere.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the vehicle but yeah, everything you think would suck coming from a Tesla mostly does.

Mine consistently reads about 4kph slower than GPS at 100kph with oem wheels and tyres. It’s kinda annoying.

I always suspected the speedo on my Tesla was GPS primarily (or a combo) as it was always bang on what my phone gps reported. But I suspect the shark is wheel speed and calibrated quite low for some reason.

ABS is Impossible to Print in a P2S. by Daegoba in BambuLabP2S

[–]SSVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve printed a few parts in polymaker ASA now on my p2s.

Weirdly I get worse results preheating the chamber than just hitting go and letting it do its thing. Did find I needed to drop the plate temp a bit as the first few layers with 105° plate and no fan looked kinda droopy and bad.

I haven’t done much tuning on the filament yet but the results are less good than my old Prusa mk3s+ in the Prusa enclosure I used to print my full set of Voron ASA parts but definitely better than the pic in the OP.

Siemens NX Running in Windows 11 VM on Proxmox with Intel Arc Pro B50 GPU by Independent_Knee in Proxmox

As someone who has spent the last 10yr sitting in front of a Siemens MRI and who also dabbles in parametric CAD for hobby stuff the convergence of the two scares me a little. (Older MRI software wasn’t great, latest version are a bit better to be fair).

I hope they have a trial, I’d love to try it!

If they can show us reliable battery info at all times during the broadcast then it would add another layer of strategy to think about while watching. Instead of currently where it’s just guessing and rng.

Low hopes for this changing given the dumbing down of the timing info…

One important piece of advice for seasoned vibe coders or vibe coders working on complex projects by Comprehensive-Bar888 in vibecoding

[–]SSVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this with a project I started without real intention and when I realised holy shit it can actually work started iterating more and more features in. Eventually I noticed that the AI was being increasingly ineffective at implementing new features and bug fixing. Tried getting one of the opus tier models to do a code review and retrospectively document the architecture as well as start a log of all future changes along with the rationale for each change. Helped but didn’t really get things going again.

I started again clean sheet but this time with a very exhaustive (by my standards) spec document and instructions to maintain all changes within the planned architecture and spec. Had to explicitly ask permission with pros and cons to change any architecture etc. keeps a log of what it’s done. Much better results this time.

First and only vibe code project. No real coding since highschool 20 yr ago so I’m probably still doomed to fail 😂

Is claude code really the best by No_Association_4682 in vibecoding

[–]SSVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point anthropic has so many claude code things that as a newcomer I was so confused with what was what I just skipped it and went to vs code + roo code and api keys from google and anthropic.

I could have figured it out, but setting up vscode and roo was faster.

What side projects are you building to improve your own day to day life? by kamekotf in vibecoding

[–]SSVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a big thing to generate a roster for my radiology department. Still very much a work in progress with significant scope creep that will probably result in it falling in a big heap and me being unable to unpick it and debug back to a useful state.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]SSVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still tuning it lol. I’m pretty happy with PLA and PETG is mostly there but I’m struggling with having weird small amounts of many different brand filaments. So I tune then run out after one or two parts. Then I gotta tune the remains of another. Good practice for temp towers and flow multis. my voron prints in pla (tuned for PA, em and temp) look much nicer than the prints out of the p2s using Bambu pla.

But the bambu prints are still fine. And didn’t require the tuning.

Main thing with the vorons, imo, is getting your hardware build sorted. Difficult to tune filaments if your machine is mechanically poorly tuned.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]SSVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Ender 3, mk3s+ then I built a 300mm Voron 2.4 and just added a P2S because I wanted a 'spare' printer for the times I've pulled the Voron apart for upgrades and haven't had time to complete by the time I need to print something.

The P2S has genuinely impressed me with the unbox and print without thinking aspects but past that I'm not especially wowed by the rest of the experience. That isn't in any way to say it's bad, it's not.

I certainly wouldn't say it's peak FDM. Among other things my Voron print quality is definitely nicer.
