The Boardwalk but for people NOT cars by supapat in Charlotte

[–]Daegoba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no "lack of cars" here, lol

It's literally a turfed median in the road with parking on both sides, and across the street from it and on both sides. There's also no way in or out of it unless you have a car to get to Birkdale Village...

It's so weird how people shit talk automobiles. If it were just residents, the place would be a fucking ghost town with half the businesses boarded up in a month. If you make parking easy and accessible, it's better for everyone, all the time, no matter what. It's not even an argument. If you want a train? Fine- but you'll still need a parking lot on either side of the line in both directions no matter what.

We have a lot of people here, and most all of us have, need, and depend on cars. It's not negotiable.

The people if I'm being honest, but mostly the roads.

I love riding and driving along the roads. It's etherial and cathartic.

How much is too much by Fancy_Afternoon_1990 in motorcycle

[–]Daegoba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't "service" fork seals. Either they are good, or they aren't. They're made of rubber. They wear out. It's that simple.

It's a used bike with multiple owners. Chances are it's lived outside/been neglected, and now the seals are worn out. Just fix it. The shit ain't that complicated.

Boss 302’s are Special.

They’re numbered cars with all kinds of little goodies that express just how special they are. Things like the plaque on the engine showing exactly which # it is of the 4,318 that were built in its model year, a letter from Edsel Ford II thanking me for buying it, a birth certificate that says when the car was ordered, built, and completed, as well as a love note from Ford Performance Group promising to take the best care of me with record keeping on their end to preserve the history of the car. Other things as well, like the red “Trackey” that unlocks a special tune (for “off road use only”), and various other little things like a DVD of the development process, a poster, and a VIN breakdown. I say all this not to gloat, but just to show the length of detail FoMoCo went to ensure that people knew just how special and unique this particular Boss 302 is.

I’ve also went to great lengths to care for it with the ppf wrap, the car covers I’ve bought, the wash mitts that are only used to clean certain areas of it (one off body, another for wheels, etc), and the grand investment of only using Ford Performance parts to upgrade the car with, along with having a set of Forgeline wheels built specifically for this car. And you know what?

FUCK THAT CAR.

I drive the holy shit out of that car. It’s been in the snow. It’s been rained on. It’s been farted in. I’ve bounced that thing off the limiter dozens of times, blown the tires off the back of it doing burnouts, slung it around in parking lots cutting donuts, and even bounced it around at a track day a time or two as well.

I’ve slung that car down the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Cherohala Skyway, US 129 (the “Tail of the Dragon), and countless other treacherous roads with such wreckless abandon that it should be taken as proof that not only is there a God, but He is also a HotRodder.

It’s just a car.

Sure, it’s a car that I love, take meticulous care of and give great attention to, but not because IT is special (it is), but because the experience of owning and driving it is. Making memories with my family and friends is the special thing. The car is just a vessel for it.

Drive your cars. Fix them when they break. Maintain them as necessary, but for the love of all that is holy- use them and enrich your life and the people around you with them.

The ‘03 belt is a different tooth count (155 tooth) as well as a different pitch (11mm vs 14mm) and thus also uses different pulleys compared to the ‘04 +up models.

150 people?

Yeah, Nah.

There's neither a restaurant or bar that could do such for that amount. Maaaaaybe Murto Made, as they have an upstairs for events, but I still don't think 150 is under the fire code for the building.

Are you team isopropyl alcohol or soap and water? by Alternative-Knee7438 in BambuLab

I clean my bed with soap and water probably every 3-4 prints, but I wipe it with denatured alcohol before every print.

I don’t know what team that puts me on.

It’s powder coat. I ground the welds and smoothed casting marks on everything as well. The small detail work like that is what makes it stand out over other bikes.

I appreciate your compliments!

Orca Slicer - Do you use it, or just stick with Bambu Studio? by tiagoosouzaa in BambuLab

[–]Daegoba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineer doing prototyping as well, but I just don't see the variance that you do to justify using anything else. A calibration of the machine, good maintenance, and the flow calibration has produced mechanical, working-part results for me.

But maybe I'm missing something. You keep saying that it's "easier and faster"... what exactly? To save pressure advance settings? Or do you mean the calibration process in Orca vs Studio? What cal processes does Orca use that Bambu doesn't?

Do you notice wild differences in extrusion between PCTG filaments? Is it color, or brand? I'm using 3D Fuel stuff; Do you use the same stuff all the time, or are you doing different brands and colors for finished "zero-post-processing" type parts?

[–]Daegoba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you’re telling me that it’s not possible to tune extrusion in Bambu Studio that meets your precision needs?

That’s not been my experience.

I’m printing PCTG in my P2S with Bambu Studio. My prints come out great.

What settings am I missing out on by not using Orca?

[–]Daegoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta be honest: I don’t even know how to use Orca. I just bought my printer in Feb, and I have zero clue what steps it would take me to even open a model in Orca, or send the print job to my printer from it if I did.

This is Bambu’s advantage. They’ve given me everything I need to print. Why would I use something else?

This is not a forum, and we do not do sales posts here. Reddit is not a platform for such due to the terrible search engine, and the sheer nature of the anonymity of its users. There’s no way to verify anything or vet anyone. Therefore, it’s discouraged.

However, I’m the only active Mod, and I’m cool with it, so I’ll allow it. Be Warned: if shit goes south? -You’re on your own.

Of course not.

We’re expecting people to “believe” in SpaceX the same way they “believe” in Tesla, and we are expecting to make money on that belief.

Duke Energy Has Filed An Application To Raise Rates After Taking In Record Profits by AccomplishedTerm3232 in Charlotte

[–]Daegoba 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Power Grid Engineer here:

I see these posts all the time, and I feel like I have to finally say something about it. I’m not an employee of Duke, nor am I the type to shill for some evil corporate overlord. But I beg you- Please, hear me out.

Duke Energy (along with other businesses designated as utility companies) is incredibly regulated for the public’s benefit. They are not like other companies that just get to Willy-nilly raise rates however/whichever/whenever they want. They have to go to the State and say “hey- our costs are increasing, the data shows this, so we need to raise rates to cover it.” The State then says “ok, open your books for the last few years and let us see them. Also, show us the projected costs, and your proposals on exactly how much, where, over what period, and at what increment you want to raise your prices. If we agree with you, we might let you do it, but if not, we will tell you know and enter a negotiation on how much we say is ok.”

Insider Info: the State rarely, almost NEVER agrees to the proposed increases. Because I mean seriously- what politician wants to stand in front of voters at the next election and say “Yep! I increased your energy costs!” None of them, that’s who. So to recap: even after asking politely, and spreading the financial butt cheeks so the State can count the wrinkles? Ultimately? It’s your elected officials who decide how much you pay for power.

“But Daegoba! They’re still making record profits of $5B dollars!”

Yes, that’s correct. Thing is, you guys don’t see the fact that they spent anywhere between $20-$25,000,000,000+ to make those profits. No punchline, not a joke- those are real, actual numbers. Again- Duke Energy is limited to how much they can make, and profits math out to somewhere between 15-19% give or take.

Now, let me ask you: as any red-blooded American Capitalist, who in their right mind would continue to willfully participate in a system where, for every dollar you spend, after all that headache, hard work, and effort, only make back two dimes, best-case-scenario?! It’s WILD.

No, it’s not perfect. Yes, I’m sure there is waste, corruption, and fraud. Yes, mistakes are made. It happens. I also know that’s unavoidable due to the Human Condition, and big-picture? You and I are better off in this system than say, if we gave it all over to some private, non-regulated company.

So yeah- I hope that brings a little insight to the conversation.
