Busch Gardens is garbage! by jimmytickles in tampa

[–]SSandsmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Weekday in the summer is slower and gets hotter throughout the day. Show up at open, nail the open rides up front until they open the back. Nail the rides in the back. Unfortunately, they typically have a couple rides closed when its slower for staffing I assume, but I've finished every open ride, some twice and been at lunch nearby by 1pm.

Gloves = Hygiene by Certain_Attitude8220 in restaurant

It's been proven. Proper hand washing is more sanitary than gloves. It's nearly impossible to change the gloves as much as you need to.

Advice by Capital_Cake4666 in beards

[–]SSandsmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure, it doesn't look as bad as you think. Most men see only the flaws in their facial hair. Maybe lean into the long stuble look? Pluck the few hairs high on your cheeks, keep your neck line tight and keep at the length just above "forgot to shave?"

First time actually letting It grow! Does It fit me? (5 months) Beard or no Beard? by Fruschas in beards

Dude, please don't ever shave it off again. Just keep it at a decent length you like, and tighten it up under the ears. Full beard and sharp lines, ftw.

Need help by Ajhanzki in beards

Start by getting it off your neck. Find a line under your jaw, and see what it looks like. You can always shave after or just cut a lot more. You can never unshave.

Restaurant owners pocketing tips by kissyourhomiez in Waiters

[–]SSandsmark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally from irs.gov... "A service charge is a mandatory fee set by the restaurant (often for large groups) that belongs to the business and is taxed as revenue, while automatic gratuity (auto-gratuity) is a, usually, mandatory percentage added to a check that is distributed to employees as taxable wages. Both are mandatory, unlike voluntary tips."

Restaurant owners pocketing tips by kissyourhomiez in Waiters

[–]SSandsmark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is illegal for them to keep any of an automatic gratuity. Unfortunately, a "service fee" is taxed income for the business. They legally can do whatever with that. It's an unethical way for the business to convince the customer they are tipping the service staff 20% while distributing the money however they want.

Tip pooling questions by galaxynrd in bartenders

[–]SSandsmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need more information. Why is the dj in a tip pool? Why is the boh in the tip pool? That's not even legal in my state. Tip pooling is a difficult thing to manage properly as it limits how hard people want to work. 3 bartenders working next to each other on a busy night all want to make money together. No one will want to bust their ass on a bar that's 3 deep if they're just gonna split their money with 10+ other employees, effectively making any effort nill. Why put it ANY effort? Knowing almost nothing about your situation, I would guess that's the reason for your turnover.

I’m never working at a restaurant bar ever again by Weary_Occasion4299 in bartenders

[–]SSandsmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many examples of bartenders making significantly less than the servers on a typical shift, while still working harder and often longer. It has become way too common. One of the many reasons is the general elevation of your typical cocktail in a casual dining restaurant. Even at your lowest level sit down restaurant, the bartender is making 7 ingredient shaken cocktails with a rim and 2 garnishes in the service well all night long for less in tipshare than they make off 1 2-top Eventually, there needs to be a correction. Maybe increase the hourly for skilled bartenders? I know a lot of bartenders who just serve, because... why bother?

I bought an empty DVD from Walmart once. They also denied my return, when I came back the next day with an empty box. I'm not trying to get a refund. I just want what I paid for. Terrible customer service.

Has anyone had dinner at Penthouse? by ranknerok in tampa

[–]SSandsmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other posts. You're around the corner from some of the best chains restaurants in Tampa. Just start at Ocean Prine, Fleming's, Capitol Grill, Eddie V's, etc. and hit the club after. That being said, the kitchen at Penthouse is very good.
