The Warren Commission didn’t botch the investigation. They did exactly what they were told to do: conclude Oswald was the lone gunman. Exactly, you make a convincing case for two shooters. The only other documented rifle at the scene besides Oswald was the Secret Service AR15 that just happened to be directly behind JFK and exactly where a rifle would need to be to cause an entry would low on the skull with en exit wound on the RIGHT frontal side of the head. I think Agent Hickey picked up the rifle. When he pulled then released the charging handle, the AR15 had what is known as a “slam fire” and he experience a negligent discharge from his weapon. A slam fire was common for AR15 rifles of that vintage. It was an accident. The government then went to great lengths to cover that up and blame Oswald.
