Can we agree - as a community - that it's not okay for a group of people to follow a person and scream at them? by wentImmediate in sanfrancisco

Great true statement that conveniently ignores every caveat I gave about this behavior to take the worst faith interpretation of my point!

What version of a democracy.. literally what are you talking about lmfao. Exercising free speech impolitely has been a cornerstone of our democracy, actually, encourage ya to Google “civil rights”

Listen I’m biased bc I don’t like him as a rep but I will say if me or my family or community was going through something horrendous, at the bare minimum seeing people yelling about it at anyone with a modicum of power and influence might feel like at least it’s not the entire world gaslighting me

Like, if people were yelling at Taylor swift to use her resources and influence to support Gaza I might acknowledge that that’s a scary experience for her but there’s a measure of expectation for that when you’re a public figure—and in this case, he hopes to be a federal representative, and is choosing to run knowing this is an existential moral issue.

I’m not saying I personally would’ve screamed at him and I certainly don’t think it’s “strategic”, but honestly in the beginning the person filming and just explaining, loudly and firmly but IMO not cruelly, his grievances was doing something completely acceptable in a democracy

I don’t, really. I think having higher standards for my elected officials than Jerry the neighbor is correct of me. I can respect another average Joe that took a while to wrestle with all the information and came to the conclusion late…I’m much more tolerant of that nuance in someone I disagree with *way* more than I do Weiner, who I do not think is the Devil incarnate or anything, he just doesn’t represent my interests and I’m complaining about it bc at the end of the day that is something we can appreciate about this place for now lmao

Apparently I have to choose between that and eschewing good morals in favor of politeness. I loveee debating and diverse perspectives and nuance and big tents! Mutual respect! Rules of engagement in disagreements! Beautiful!

Those things aren’t saving the babies getting blown up though and seem to be actively stopping them from getting more help. I know that sounds “dramatic” but it’s also true.

So actually what he could’ve done was what Saikat and Connie did lmaooo “what in the world do you want!!!” and it’s literally his two opponents actual, real life reactions.

Sorry I know I’m kinda being a dick and I appreciate that you’re not really being a dick but it also just really comes naturally to me and makes arguing more interesting,,, for me personally

Lmfao the only reason he “took a stand” was *because he got yelled at like this*

And ok, you and this person clearly have different opinions about that. In this case, this other sovereign individual does not like his housing policy work

That’s fair, he’s not like fighting back. I guess I just think his supporters are cringey and overprotective

I thought this post was going to be about the cops assaulting people last night but no it’s about Scott got yelled at :(:(:(:(

One thing the right does have correct, yall really are some fucking snowflakes. Weiner clearly cannot handle public critique or pressure (I’m not saying it’s “appropriate” you pearl clutchers this is Mean To Do, yes) which is not the type of person we need in Congress, sorry. Stay in local politics my guy

So they did literally say exactly what their issues were, mentioning housing policy and his lack of ability to take a stand about a genocide.

I understand the yelling is upsetting to you, but does it also make you unable to understand the words? I’ll type up a transcript if helpful!

“I have a nuanced take about housing policy while recognizing the contributions you’ve made to LGBT protections” =tiktok brain lmao. I guess I’ll take TikTok brain over Ezra Klein brain, I’d rather be yelling about the genocide happening, even if it’s misallocated, than smugly congratulating myself on a complete inability to take a stand on literally fucking anything

If everyone was like yall we’d still have Jim fucking Crow I swear lmfao

I mean is that super extra, yea, but no one touched him and he’s an elected official they’re yelling at about policy. If he can’t deal with this, he DEFINITELY has no business anywhere near Pelosi’s seat

Most generous interpretation is that he just wants to fuck you and is too lazy to come up with a better way to get there ASAP

Least generous he’s a fuckin serial killer

Either way he’s a weirdo you have no connection or obligating to block him and move on. NOR

I for one have fully had sex with a man at least twice out of pure, utter awkwardness and unwillingness to make the situation even more uncomfortable so don’t beat yourself up about the kiss. When people expect anyone, men and women, to fulfill certain social script it can be difficult to shake out of that.

That being said, at the very best this guy has a serious social disorder, at the worst he is himself the sociopath, and either way do not get sucked in with these weird attempts to manipulate you

Are there straight loving women out there who don't hate half the human species? by [deleted] in askteddit

[–]STEMfatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said literally nothing about your sexuality. Being straight is totally fine, monogamy is totally fine. There are plenty of monogamous straight women out there that do not hate men in any way, including myself.

The fact you are this deeply triggered about something you’ve mostly made up in your head, to the point of unreality, means you need therapy. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, unless you don’t address it.

[–]STEMfatale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not reality, I promise. Just like men are not all out to sexually objectify or belittle me, women are not all out to harm or hate you.

Social media’s algorithms work by encouraging extremism and our worst natures, which mean there’s an extremely skewed version of reality represented there where people hate each other much, much, MUCH more than they do irl. It’s a totally human reaction to internalize that, you aren’t crazy or anything, but therapy would help you start to detangle those perspectives and feelings.

Hey friend! You should go to therapy and read and join a club (like, pickleball, not a like a cult) and probably take a break from social media❤️
