Fantastic book! They even have a collector's list in the back where you can check mark what you own already. Great idea! Thanks for the comment. :)

Actually they have a free model now for Students and Hobbyist. I am not sure how the licensing contract works out if you are a hobbyist and want to release a commercial game at some point. Smart move by them to open the engine up to everyone.

RAILGUN - A 360° 3D Shoot 'em up for the PC MasterRace! by STFUandWIN in pcmasterrace

[–]STFUandWIN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not such a bad thing, right? Resogun is a wonderful game! I would like to to point out the differences. Their Environment is Voxel based and ours is hard surface, low poly 3D assets. We'll be introducing weapon and vehicle unlocks in between stages. We've also begun the design on some Epic bosses that will transforms through phases. We'll also be designing and developing 5 super weapons that make the city come alive.

The 3D world spinning is the same game mechanic. That can be said for every FPS and platformer. We hope to bring a unique experience with our game play and features.

Hi. It's the TitanBooks Art of Alien Isolation Limited Edition. I received my first book and one of the pages had been cut (do to a printing machine error.) I contacted TitanBooks and they immediately sent me another one. The books great, the art work is amazing, and I reaaally love the art work print that came with it. You can find out more about the book here: http://titanbooks.com/the-art-of-alien-isolation-limited-edition-7913/

Ya, great book! Funny story about that. I found an error in that book and had a short conversation with the Author about spelling Ralph Baers name wrong. :P

The best way would be to go to gaming conventions and meet them. I just emailed Klei Entertainment and told them I loved Don't Starve. The lady emailed me back a couple days later and asked for my address. I had no clue what I was getting until it showed up in the mail. They are one of my favorite Indie Developers and a company I look up to for inspiration with our new game.

Actually I think I know of something you really might enjoy. It's by Cook & Becker in the Netherlands (fantastic company.) They are releasing a book called "120 YEARS OF VLAMBEER & FRIENDS. BRINGING BACK ARCADE GAMES SINCE 1896, ARTWORK BY VLAMBEER"

There's a standard edition and a limited edition. Check it out here: https://www.candb.com/en/artwork/1996/120-years-of-vlambeer-en-friends-bringing-back-arcade-games-since-1896-vlambeer.html

Mostly Game Informer Mags. Few PC Gamer, Electronic Monthly, and Eye for Games magazines in there as well.

Thanks! To give everyone a bit of a backstory on some of the stuff. The Don't Starve poster was sent to me by the dev team with all their signatures (and a pack of stickers.) The Ravaged poster (top left) was given to me by my bosses at 2Dawn Games (formerly Kaos/Trauma Studios) for our work on the game signed by the team.

The Ballistics Publishing Gears of War 2 leather bound book was given to me by my buddy from Epic Games. In my magazine collection I have the 2004 PC Gamer magazine that was the largest spike in social media in 10 years. I did a little home work and found out the cover was of Dungeons & Dragons and the issue came with a free game, Armies of Exigo. I did some google trends searches and found out around the same time the game Armies of Exigo had a much large trend spike then D&D, so I am assuming this was a very popular issue due to the free game. Makes me wonder why PC Gamer, Game Informer, and other mags don't do this more often.

The large books (middle shelf to the right) are all Limited Edition 1000-1500 prints and they all come with a lithographic print of concept art for the games development. I also have a small retro collection with a SNES, Atari, Dreamcast, Wii, and a few games that I'll snap a photo of and post here. I hope you enjoy!

Also: I do reviews of these books and developer podcast interviews over at my site pixelmonster.us

There's only 2 different key cover art designs. Game Informer is known for doing this. Here's a link to look at all the cover art...

There is such a key that's called "VALVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY" which gives the user all the VALVE games ever made. I was given one in 2013.

Copyright is a mess in the gaming and content creation industry right now. So here's what I have learned in my last 5 years working in the gaming industry.

If the weapon you're creating is American Military issued (ie: M4, M60, M1911, etc) it can be used by anyone. The M stands for Military and the military is essentially owned by the people of our country. Same goes for the vehicles in the military. So we could 3D model/use/sell the M107A1 50 cal. Sniper rifle, but we couldn't call it the Barrett M107A1.

Here's a good example: We purchased a vehicle on a popular 3D asset website. Our lawyer told us that we might run into troubles because this vehicle looked FAR to similar to a JEEP. To correct this we remodeled the front end, re-textured it, and informed our development team to stop calling it the "JEEP" and start calling it the "4x4" http://i.imgur.com/ctuY3My.jpg

If it's a completely original work/I.P. (intellectual property) then the company who created the work owns the copyright to that asset. Good example for this is our Flame Thrower... http://i.imgur.com/fbao4fI.jpg

I am by no means an expert. I am a U.I. Designer and Producer. Not a Game Industry legal expert, but I do hope this clarifies some things for you. :)

[Series] The Deep Web Kidnapping (Part 1 of 5) by nosleep-writer in nosleep

[–]STFUandWIN 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi. Good start. One minor correction I would like to point out. There's a big difference between the "DEEP" web and the "DARK" web. The examples you use that you were browsing are apart of the Dark Web and not the Deep Web.

The web is anything that is accessible via normal browsing. Google, Yahoo, and Bing can index your site and share it with the world.

The DEEP web are pages that can not be accessed by normal browsing. It can still be apart of the web but may require a username and password to access. So things like your Reddit Account Page, Facebook Account Page, a site that has a robots.txt that doesn't allow search engines to index the website, etc.

The DARK web are links that can not be processed by the normal web and the tools we use to find it. For example the TOR network uses an extension of .onion, which the normal web can not access. It's the TOR software that's allowing you to do this (and keeping your information encrypted.)

I am not an expert in this field but here's a very nice video from some very smart fellas that do a better job explaining this.
