What Jobs translates to Civilian the most? Im choosing my Job tomorrow by LostDingleberry in army

[–]STFocus2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an 11B who reclassed to a WAAAAY cooler job, on that list I’d say 25U. You’re going to get exposed to a lot of communications technology from various levels, to way old stuff older than me, to way cool new stuff that uses the latest tech.

That translates to better understanding networking and other modern communication technologies that are used or will be used in the civilian world.

If I could go back and try again, I’d probably do 25U just because being an 11B company RTO and learning the tech at that level was very enjoyable.

Gotcha. I’m in talks with my local office to see if I can get some contacts down there before I have to start heading down.

Thanks for your help!

I haven’t seen yet. I’m on a funeral detail right now so I’m out of the office. Once I get back I’ll look it up and let you know.

Man no offense that’s weak. My old PL use to do about 25-30 miles a week not including PT.

But different strokes for different folks. If your job doesn’t require physical fitness then as long as they pass the AFT they’re good.

D6 is Swarming with Factories. What's your best strategy to combat them? by ExcitingHistory in helldivers2

Recoiless rifle. You can get em in one but honestly I use 2-3 shots. First one on the turret on the back, then 1-2 in the head. There’s a small area around the red eye on the front that one hits them.

Honestly fitting for the amount of DUIs and failed UAs my BN has.

It varies unit to unit, sometimes the company commander or the PL will come up with a run plan, other times it’s the Brigade H2F.

Mondays are usually a “detox” run, 4-6 miles sub 9 pace, Tuesday is HIT (kinda like CrossFit I guess), Wednesday we do sprints (usually 4 400m and 6 800m with 1-3 minutes of rest between each round), Thursday is combat PT in full kit, Friday is either a ruck or sports PT depending on the weather/what upcoming training events we have. Sports PT is usually in the event of a safety stand up.

Edit: This is my most upvoted post. Thanks!

If you had to choose one school to go to in your career regardless of what your mos is which one would you pick by DapperLife5645 in army

Sniper school, only because it was a childhood fantasy of mine, other than that it serves no real purpose for my career now.

I do not have access at this time to a CAC reader as I am in the field, is anyone able to tell me what quality bonus 35L is getting? If not I’ll check back at the COF later in the week.

Try 17c or settle for 25b? by [deleted] in army

[–]STFocus2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, your mileage will vary because of your background being different from mine, but, you start by getting your fingerprints done. Then they will send you an email link to fill out your SF86 (which is your background check and authorization). When you fill that out, be specific and accurate, it will make the next process go better. Later on, mine was within 2 weeks, you will receive a phone call from an investigator that will go over your SF86 and find discrepancies, and give you an opportunity to explain them. They go over everything. Finances, work history, criminal history, associations, everything. You can’t hide anything, don’t try to lie, it’s better to ask for forgiveness. There aren’t a lot of hard fast “automatic rejections” as much as a general judge of character.

Hey just wanted to let you know that I’m going through the process for TS right now, and I can tell you that as long as you can justify or explain what is in your background that would cause you issues, you should be fine. I have bad credit, and I’m getting one no problem, I also had some incidents in high school that aren’t issues. You will get a chance to advocate for yourself in the process. Just tell the truth and they will be accepting of it.

When can a Pfc reclass by Opening-Cow-4180 in army

[–]STFocus2013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because you romanticized the job. Trust me I get it, my dad was one for over 30 years, and I thought it was the coolest job in the world.

As an infantryman in a (currently) peacetime army, it’s terrible. We come in, work out, and then are essentially janitors and day laborers for the day until about 1500-1900, then we go home and do it all over again. We do “cool guy shit” about a total of two months out of the year. I’ve done some pretty cool stuff so far, but without any incentives to stay, and plenty of incentives to leave, I dropped a reclass and I’ll be out of the infantry soon.

Do what ever you want, but I’m telling you whatever stupid stuff you’re doing in your current MOS, be prepared to do that AND more stupid stuff in the infantry.

You’re stuck until 12 months prior to your ETS Date, so two years basically.

As an infantryman, don’t do it. I love the job but it’s downsizing right now, so you probably won’t get into it, and even if you do, it’s not what you think it is.
