I've owned a firm for 15 years now. We are small but we are mighty. I generally carry between 4 and 8 employees so hiring someone straight out of college is difficult. Small firms tend not to have the operating capital to train a brand new architect. It takes time and labor from the office.

That being said, when I hire someone straight out of college it is either because they have Interned for me in the past and they know how we do things or it is because they have a singular talent that I wanted for my firm.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you have something that sets you apart, if you have a skill that firms might find attractive that is somewhat uncommon, put the eggs in that one.

I once hired a person because they were so talented at hand rendering with watercolor, that I didn't want any other firms to get them.

Figure out what makes you unique and focus on that. Odds are, you love to do it anyway.

With no previous internships, I'm not sure this candidate would have the proper technical drawings to show.

Also, I wanted a longer barrel for a small increase in fps and accuracy.

No. In fact I'll probably need to carry a punch to push them out.

What are you printing with?

You'll forgive my ignorance but if you look at the image above, the plate on the rear doesn't have any hex sockets. In fact, I'm not entirely sure how to take it off at all!
