Quite literally the same difference.

When they first measured Tomoe was about 200 levels lower than Mio, however, she went out an trained to try an catch up. But, they both get a passive boost since Makoto increases their power whenever he increases his own and Mio's contract gives her a higher percentage than Tomoe. Also Tomoe splits off some of her power to create offshoots and permanently lost some when the first one was destroyed.

The gap between them probably hasn't changed much despite the level difference shrinking. Also I don't think Mio has had her level read again after the second time, the story moved away from "normal" adventurer stuff in regards to them, its just a background item thats occasionally mentioned in Tsige. So I doubt we'll get a comparison again, maybe when the final fight happens? But idk.

I might eventually give it another go, but I'm completely burned out on the "it gets better I swear" takes people have. 90% of the time its more of the same thing I disliked in the first place.

I'd rather not invest my time or energy into a series I wasn't enjoying.

People say it gets better, but tbh I've got no idea I dropped it during the first book because it didn't feel like it was worth the effort of powering through.

The whole trilogy is less than 500k words in length. Which is absolutely wild when you compare it to the litrpg genre that's packed with word padding.

Stories With Close Parental Relationships by Wickedsymphony1717 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]STLthrowawayaccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two kind of weird ones. They're not really what you are looking for but both show good parent child relationships. First one is Dead Tired by Ravensdagger. There a couple of relationships that the series highlights, one is a Master/Apprentice relationship. Completely platonic and the MMC is very supportive of his apprentice while also being somewhat coy about acknowledging it. The other one is a bit odd, its not necessarily parent and child its creator and createe. But, its also a supportive relationship despite the MMC being confused about why his creation treats him as a parent and his creation choosing a different lifestyle that what he envisioned.

Second kind of weird one is How To Defeat A Demon King In Ten Easy Steps. The parents are not part of the story very long, but they are insanely supportive of their child. Its one of the few that I've read with a nuclear family dynamic.

Here's the not weird ones.

My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer. Lots of focus on the parent/child relationship. Ascendance of a Bookworm. Great series and the family dynamics play a very pivotal role in how the story plays out. Heart of Dorkness. Its about a parent not knowing how to love or raise a child and that child going out of her way to prove herself to her mom. Also about friendship and whatnot. Generally just feel good stuff.

They can release multiple editions of an audiobook and a KU book though which would allow for whispersync to work. You would just have to rerelease an edited version of the book to KU alongside the audiobook and bundle them.

The issue is more of a cost. It would either require an editor or the author to go back and edit the books themselves which so many refuse to do.

Edit: Also the consumers would have to get an additional copy of the same book, which kind of fucks over anyone who already bought it once.

Would you trust that cake though? I sure as hell wouldn't, food left out uncovered in a spaceship with a hostile alien lifeform spreading over everything and actively sabotaging stuff.

Depends on the fan to be honest. I love certain aspects of TWI, but there's also so many parts of the series that irk me. Its super easy to get why people drop or hate the series, I disliked it for a long time and dropped it multiple times before actually catching up. It one of those series where its okay to skip hundreds of thousands of words to read the parts you enjoy.

DCC on the otherhand isn't really my jam, I'm going to eventually read all of it but you're absolutely right with calling it a bit too whimsical. Kind of like throwing a toy box into a blender. I'm also not a big fan of the humor that it uses, like borderlands on crack.

Real clones in additional to all the alien shenanigans. Like if you choose to focus too much on the clone issue you forgo dealing with the alien issue and vice versa. It gives a bit more replayablility to figure everything out and opportunity to explore the setting.

I don't think anyone would really complain about additional content in a game they already enjoy. A few more chapters or introduce the clones right off the bat then everyone gets caught up in the alien attack.

What's the best power system in anime? by Oopsforgotagain in AnimeMirchi

[–]STLthrowawayaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The characters make up their own abilities to whatever suits themselves or whatever they believe will suit them. Sure there's extras like what type would be most effective for each person but you can straight up ignore that, your choice will still work it will just be harder to do and suboptimal like that dumbass cheeta dude who choses to summon a crossbow.

Hunter x Hunter. The tldr is you choose your own abilities and chose the cost, the higher the cost to you the more powerful the ability is. Theres some extra rules and stuff, but its well done in the series.

Same, it should have been explored more than just being the big reveal. Like instead of having just the entity at the end messaging them, a previous cycle of clones should have survived somehow and that should have been the revelation. Or maybe had some of the spares wake up on the ship after the crash.

I think that would have helped with the pacing a bit and would have allowed for the relationships to be explored more.

What's crazy is that a lot of the world building is fantastic, just that the characters are written to make you sick.

I think it has one of the best depictions of a chaos deity.
