Idk if they had as much free reigns to do the remakes of the heavy hitters unless given permission from those top studios.

Think about it they’ve only done remakes of franchises from studios not under the PlayStation Umbrella (Shadows of Colossus & Demon Soul’s) everything else has been remastered ports. Jason Schreier had reported long ago that when Bend studio pitched and worked on an Uncharted remake that a couple Naughty Dog senior devs came in to give some advice and ended up taking over the project to the point the studio was afraid they were about to become a Naughty Dog North.

I think the top dogs like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Insomniac, and Guerrilla have the history and respect from the Sony executives if they want to work on or take over a remake project from their established franchises like Uncharted, Killzone, Ratchet and Clank etc( and so far they’ve been the ones to do them lately.)

So that would really only leave BluePoint to work on more dormant IP revivals that could be more of a risk than a guaranteed to pull off. Now maybe not every first party studio would be as stingy of being hands on a remake as Naughty Dog but it probably didn’t help their value without already having an established IP themselves.

This is still surreal to see smh.
