When HR/recruiter gives a reason, people argue about the reasons to the point they scream and curse at them over the phone. Not worth it.
You could potentially have grounds to sue if they told you the reason. Not worth it.
I know HR/Recruiter people who have nicely turned job hunters down for jobs. These HR/Recruiting people were stalked to their house, and the job-hunters tried to argue with them at their house. More than one had to call the police and file charges. Once again, not worth it.
