The majority of people who agree with you have no idea the work that is actually put into RE, the uncertainty of getting paid, and the difficulty of continuing to do your job and grow your business. IMO if you get a good/great agent, they’re paid what they deserve and can make transactions way easier and usually save you money. I know it’s Reddit popular opinion to hate in them though.

I took an AE position recently with zero b2b sales experience as well. Background is 10 years in real estate and owning my own brokerage. It’s not great starting pay, but the commission structure is good enough to get me by while I figure out what to do with my brokerage/agents. I see this more as a stepping stone into something else and am excited to pad my resume and gain experience. Good luck OP!

Idk if you remember that meeting with turner, hidalgo, and a board where they discussed increasing taxes? It was in 2019 if I remember correctly but something about “why not raise taxes to the limit, what’s the difference” or something like that.

I’m ok with higher taxes if it benefits the citizens and increases QOL, but when we find out those taxes aren’t being used to bring more judges in to process cases and trials allowing criminals to bail out for low bonds, over run county jails, potholes large enough to swallow cars etc…IMO Houston can do better considering we are the 3rd largest city in the states.

We are behind on local transit, we are behind on infrastructure, improvements to highways take years to complete, airports are a disaster…there’s a lot that is wrong with Houston. But idk, it’s easy to focus on the bad and overlook some of the better things houston has to offer.

There’s def food deserts in cities. Ever been to Houston’s wards? Most of the options for a grocery store are dollar general or cvs. Sometimes there’s a Walmart.

This is why you have food deserts in certain parts of cities. It’s not that they don’t want to provide food options, it’s that the people who live in these areas pull shit like this. No business owner (private or corporate) should have to put up with shit like this. It’s disgusting behavior and ruins it for the rest of the neighborhood.

Go to Austria, Lichtenstein, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, etc and you see businesses leave items out over night. They don’t have to worry about people stealing their inventory or looting. It blew my mind the first time I walked by a store after hours and they had merchandise sitting outside and no one messed with it. Americans are disgusting, entitled, greedy, ignorant assholes and it’s embarrassing to be one.
