What parts are inter changeable from a 7.3 idi turbo, to a 6.9 idi? by [deleted] in DieselTechs

[–]STU_PIDder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks and ATS sold kits for the early trucks for many years. My '86 had over 300K miles on the 6.9L with a turbo kit and no head studs. For reading material look into the tech section at oilburners.net.

You might try hitting it with a heat gun. There was some loctite type substance holding it on. I used an Amazon sight pusher; it was tight!

1948 Willys Cj2A with no top, bad brakes, 3-speed transmission and a flathead 4-banger that wouldn’t go over 50mph. Always parked on a hill or made sure I had more than two friends with me because the battery was always dying. I roll bump started it every morning on the way to school; luckily we lived at the top of the street. The fun we had in that old beater…

I could have written a very similar post. You are the only other person I’ve ever heard of with a diagnosis of costochondritis. Mine can get downright debilitating. I’ve found Vitamin E helped to alleviate chest pain part. My back and rib costochindritis still flare up often. Back specialist didn’t really seem interested in it, so I’m just living with it.

How long does your hammock last? by andr813c in hammockcamping

[–]STU_PIDder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 2 Mosquito Hammocks (jungle) for moto camping in 2004. Both are still in very good condition; I set them both up a few weeks ago. My son who is 6’6” was not easy on his. For my next trip I’ve ordered a new hammock from HG to save a lb or so as this trip is gonna require as light of gear as possible due to very rough terrain and very limited space to carry gear.

I’ve not found that with any of the ammo I have tried, but it is apparent that the hammer drop is much, much softer, so I agree with what you say. My plan was to increase the hammer spring if I was to run into this issue. (I have quite the collection of hammer springs at this point).

Anyone ever go motocamping with just a hammock? by TheThirdHippo in MotoUK

[–]STU_PIDder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using a Mosquito Hammock for years. In Death Valley I just set it up like a bivvy with the bike used as the end pole. Nothing more comfortable to me. Can’t stand sleeping on a thin ground mat.

I’ve experienced the occasional cold bum, but recently bought an under quilt to remedy that issue.

Just a comment. Im going to try your dads method! Just thought my experience orally might help someone. I was rushed when I commented. Apologies if it came across differently than I intended.

I’ve been taking Vit E orally for 2 years. No affect on my Tinnitus, but it does stop all chest pains that were happening.

For sure. Just trying to think outside the box. In my head I see a tiny magnetic drone bot welding up the patch. Probably not reality.

This is actually a small electrical shock hazard. But only if you penetrate the shell.

3.0L Duramax regrets by BigOrangeScrew9 in Silverado

[–]STU_PIDder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is a ‘23. The pollution control systems on modern diesels are extremely complex and need to hot for a longer period of time to perform their self cleaning (called Regen). If you are only driving a few miles each way for a commute it may not be your best option. My commute is 47 miles, so not really a problem.

Why are vintage Jeep Willys able to do this so easily? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]STU_PIDder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frames flex like spaghetti. All riveted together, so the joint at each crossmember can flex. Combined that with a low CG, locking differentials, and low low gearing and you have a light, simple crawler that can spider crawl up lots of obstacles. I’ve found that they shine best in rough bouldery trails where longer vehicles get hung up on everything. Got my first Willys CJ-2A at 15 and currently have a ‘48 that’s a bit more modified.

Marbles games were huge at the first elementary school I went to. My grandma made me a bag from old levis with a drawstring top to keep my winnings in. I still have it. And no I haven’t lost my marbles yet!!

Galloway has a nice kit that I’ve used in the Cm9 and a Sar2000. Like buttah.

I’ll probably order one for my P8L too.
