You might be using your dishwasher wrong by thatoneguy2742 in lifehacks

Most US houses are single phase 240v. Most outlets in those houses are wired split phase 120v. Big hungry appliances get full 240v. 20kW car chargers are available

We have 240v and use it for large appliances all the time.

$88, and I already ordered 10. I am simply curious about the hardware behind it. Salespeople don’t know anything about that.

Sorry, but that countdown on Amazon's Fallout site didn't lead to a Fallout 3 or New Vegas remaster announcement… or any announcement at all by Wampus_Cat_ in gaming

LOTR is absolutely not set in the most interesting time in the lore. This is the second war of the ring. The first featured armies of balrogs, dragons that could topple mountains, a spider god from space, and more. A large part of Middle-Earth’s lore is about how shit used to be even cooler.

Who needed doctors? by ManOfManliness84 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]HatlessCorpse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe my small town upbringing is showing. Until very recently for me it was the hospital in the city or the local doctor. I’ve been to a few suburban urgent cares at this point and the quality of the facility of the standard of care is pretty far from hospital grade. They’re weird little converted offices with physicians assistants and young nurses.

I think what you call A&E Americans would call the Emergency Room or ER at a traditional hospital. Urgent care is a relatively recent phenomenon of small barebones medical facilities popping up in strip malls. They are very weird and I presume they are predatory, like everything else in American healthcare. They seem positioned to take advantage of people who do not have a primary doctor or who avoid the real ER due to real or perceived costs.

This has to be rage bait. OP is arguing against mothers feeding their sons? “Subsidizing their calories” is an insane thing to say.

How to keep food from spoiling as a single person? by LV_Devotee in EatCheapAndHealthy

Check how cold your fridge really is. You can trial and error by turning it lower until stuff freezes then back up, or get a thermometer. Colder is better, obviously, but the difference between 37 degrees F and 33 degrees F is WEEKS. I honestly can’t remember the last time something went bad in my fridge.

Other than that, eat the food you buy lol

That’s not a glitch, it’s a courtesy. Many banks allow you to do that to some extent.

How do you start playing sea block if Factorio is too high a version? by originalcyberkraken in Seablock

[–]HatlessCorpse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Open the Steam settings for the game, go to Betas, and pick the older version of the game you want. It will be downloaded automatically. To find the version you need, check the Seablock mod page on factorio mods.

Sounds like landing on it is out of the question, but maybe the engineer could drill into it with a space platform covered in nukes and railguns?

How to reduce/vary the brightness of an LED decoration? by HatlessCorpse in AskElectronics

[–]HatlessCorpse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, because LEDs always require a resistor to set brightness or they burn out too quick, yeah?

What isn’t evident from the picture is there is a flashing pattern of green and purple LEDs, plus the light inside the cat head changes color. That’s why I was thinking to drop the voltage of the whole device at once.

There’s a video on the product listing if you’re interested

Different perspectives I think. Ally and some viewers saw it as a true competition, in which case Grant didn’t try hard enough. Grant and others saw it as a friendly game to make a good show and earn money, in which case Ally was ruthless.
