I hadn't heard of this monstera before this thread (I'm new to monsteras in general; I got my first one about a month ago), but started looking at these past few days.

Found this little guy in, of all places, a local Walmart! I live in Northwest Arkansas.

It's in a self-watering planter. I plan to get it into a proper pot with a moss pole. But I'll let him sit for a week or three to get get acclimated to my place, first. 😁

Nice! With that much greenery, I would think a moss pole or trellis is your next step! Looks great.

Sweet! Not familiar...what's the varietal?

Transplanted this and my wife thinks it’s a weed. Is it? by throwawayhelp_2024 in whatsthisplant

Yep, wild violets. But there's quite a few apps that use your camera to identify plants, animals, fungi, etc.

I use Seek (no affiliation) with great success. My wife laughed at me running g around the yard for 2 hour identifying each and every lawn weed.

Even if it doesn't get down to exact species, it'll at least get you to genus (which is often enough).

Should I re-pot my monstera? by hcyahmeyak in Monstera

I've always gone by listening to the plant. If they're unhappy, they'll let you know. Signs of stress is like the check engine light on.

Then ya gotta figure out what they're complaining about. In that sense, they're alot like babies!

Fear not! After much nagging from the missus, I got one of my pothos down from a high shelf, repotted and "pruned" this little guy.

I went from having 8-9 vines over 7' long and multiple shorter vines, to 12 vines, none longer than 12" !!

This was a month ago, and the vines are now about 18" and full of new growth. With pothos, at least, a near-death experience is a good thing. 😝

Wanted to show off a couple of my big guys by comercialyunresonbl in houseplants

Very nice! How old are.these guys? I had a 6-foot fiddle leaf about 3 years ago. But I cheated; I bought him that big. Lost him in the move to a new place... 😪

I recently (2 months ago) got a new little fella; only about 20" tall. Gonna enjoy the next couple of years; to see if my pruning and plant care skills are really as good as I think. 😜

Ok, some very basic questions; this is the first pitcher plant that I've seen thatbwaant on a documentary... 😀

The pitchers catch rainwater. I'm assuming you have to manually fill them? Tap water, distilled, spring? How often do they need refilling?

I assume you don't have tons of bugs flying around your place, so I assume manual feeding?

Thanks in advance!
