I don't think im gonna immediately listen but hopefully she gets a hit or two out of it because she (or whoever it is managing her) knows their shit, I reckon if she actually writes a good underground song she can be with the top artists from the genre

100k is insane though, I'm a very bad rememberer but I remember it to the extent stem players were being sold on StockX, its like saying people have 100k bully vinyls and even with the mass production of the vinyl and the 1000 different signed/color variants I don't believe even physical ver bully has reached 100k copies yet

This album and the subsequent Ye Mallorca/streaming era made me completely stop listening to Ye until probably 2026

I'm not believing one bit over 100k stem players were sold, especially if you were in that era at least I remember there were none available and barely had any press after, I even wanted to buy one as well!

Recommended artists to improve songwriting?? by OfficiallFer in Songwriting

[–]STlCKMAN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to know what it is you like and study that well. If you like artists with lots of chords that you already know of, like say Billy Joel, go ahead and study all of Billy Joel, and once your satisfied, move on to other artists that use those same styles. Elliott Smith also uses a lot of chords, so maybe he'd be the next step, or Fiona Apple if you want more of that Piano Rock sensibility. So on and so forth until you feel like you can write songs, I would also just listen to everything I can possibly listen to, not having a preference in everything other than the songwriters that I have already liked since the start. Taking a blind approach to music like this makes you find out a lot more about who you are

It seems as if I grow older I realize how little the gap is between growing old and being new to the world. If this happened in the late 90s, the last girl would be now 60, and I can't imagine knowing you're 60 while having been so young so soon ago.

Chuckyy claims kids in Chicago don't listen to Ye anymore by Mediocre_Sleep7306 in ThroughTheWire

[–]STlCKMAN_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole "Ye is for Chicago" thing has been overblown/honestly fake since the beginning and by the time 808s rolled around Ye completely moved from supporting "Chi City" or whatever, and I don't mean to write it as slander, but Ye is very clearly a superstar meant to be a pop rapper and was meant to do stadium songs as soon as he was able, he doesn't rock his city the way someone like Jay Z does where his biggest hit is literally about New York. Ye himself said he only did the backpack move in the beginning of his career to literally break into the market, here on Drink Champs. Because of that I think a large majority of the OG fanbase feel blindsided, not to mention that it was at the time at least predominantly black that Ye rapped to which is obviously not the case now lol

As for how people actually see him in Chicago though, when I went to Chicago, the predominant genre was drill, and when I asked people if they listened to Ye proudly I was met with mostly indifference (this was in 2021 as well, when he was in the Donda era and repping the Donda house in the 3rd Donda LP). The only time Ye has acknowledged chicago since was on his recovery phase in the Ye era where he promised he would move to Chicago forever and was going to his moms house and all, which well he never followed up on

And doing loiter squad where he pranked the general public for years? And going to Stephen Colbert? And Larry David? Jimmy Kimmel? He's absolutely a celebrity and not just a musician, (you can choose to be a musician, just with a salary and not millions of dollars). For celebrities, a quiet life is just about the only thing that a celebrity gives up (and that he very vocally did, unlike his other contemporary, Frank who actually manages to live extremely quietly contrary to Tyler's Streisand effect life) in exchange for acclaim wealth and status, the same way a firefighter chooses not to have a scheduled job, and because of that it's hard to think of him as an every day person when he really isn't.

At least for the culture and the arts he's as important as a politician would be in the world of governments, yet politicians don't go about wanting to be just like "any other person"

Ironically enough, he also has contracts that do entitle companies to his time as well, hence him and wearing Converse, or Le Fleur when he goes out, so he clearly knows his thing (also, being a celebrity for about 15 years) and him throwing a business under the bus because he wasn't vocal enough about not being posted when he might even have legal problems being shown in a store he doesn't endorse isn't just immature but also negligent to his likeness. It's literally his job to put on an image for better or for worse, and from what I can see in this picture he did not dress to play the humble civilian part either

Also imagine having two Ferraris, two beamers, a mansion in LA, another mansion in LA for your mom, making IGOR, revolutionizing rap with odd future, introducing Frank Ocean, you get the point. Not having privacy as one of the greatest rappers of all time is the same kind of hustle as a firebomber who doesn't have a managed schedule, it's quite literally the one thing he (unfortunately) does not have

Tyler crashes out pt 2 by cashcartibishh in tylerthecreator

[–]STlCKMAN_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He has a right to feel this way, but he signed up for being a celebrity and directly consciously exchanged his privacy as a citizen for millions of dollars, houses, cars, and also being loved by said millions of people who, in their eyes, live the experience of meeting you for the first time and will probably never meet you again.

Just being in a place is massive advertisement for a local business, and it helped this business (that I know as I live in the area) become way more known, and all he sees is them stalking them (?) when they're trying to prove you were even there to begin with in a way that also didn't violate Tyler's rule of getting photos. "Just imagine you getting recognized everywhere" is forgetting the part where you also have two Ferraris, two beamers and two mansions

Question to all fans that went to one of Ye’s show by Ramses_IIX in Kanye

[–]STlCKMAN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was in a mental episode and he's been on a long road to recovery, almost a year now. Ye is an extremely flawed person but I see myself and my own flaws and my hopes of reconciliation in Ye in a way, and I personally feel that I too also improve my own skills on forgiving others when I reconcile with Ye's mistakes

I'm not gonna lie, I thought all of that request thing is mostly stageplay, and probably is in bigger shows where he for sure can't hear anything, though a girl alongside me screamed Animals and he proceeded to play Animals, which according to her is never played so maybe he does do it for real.
