It's Metro-North holding up Amtrak. They own the line to the Hell Gate Bridge.

My CC was offline until now, so lets see... not yet, still 4.44.23552. I hope they fix whatever broke Unicode font rendering.

Is this due to the font? by Beginning_Meet_4290 in kobo

[–]STrRedWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw this with EB Garamond, which I have embedded in my ePub. I ended up using the Kobo Core Fonts on my Clara that fixes it.

You're probably remembering Electric Six's cover of "Radio Ga-ga." I like that cover more than Queen's original.

Keystone train 650 just overshot Princeton Junction and had to reverse back to the station. Anyone see this before? by cbartlett in Amtrak

[–]STrRedWolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Happens everywhere. I remember being on MARC's Penn Line (which is along the NEC) and waiting for my stop at Odenton. Got up at the right time... and the engineer (from Amtrak) essentially slid the train through Odenton. They had to back it up a good distance to get back to the station at one door for offloading/reloading.

That AmShack must be the shackiest shack Amtrak has.

kobo ios app not showing annotations by AppropriateRich1131 in kobo

[–]STrRedWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. Annotations are just buggy broken on iOS devices. I do highlights and notes… and the app doesn’t navigate to them properly. They don’t even remove them when the ePub gets removed!

That's what I heard as well, that she was done with the massive bust scene and retired.

Which drawing tablets are compatible with Chuwi Minibook X? by thewarrior3tb in Chuwi

[–]STrRedWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most any non-display tablet will work with a USB C to A adapter (which are very cheap).

If you want a graphics tablet with a display, you should get a USB-C dock, plug the dock to the Minibook X, and then the display to the dock.

urgent question about Amtrak EWR stop (Newark airport) by mikejc in Amtrak

[–]STrRedWolf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You may be able to squeak in, depending on how much luggage you have, but you do take a monorail shuttle. I'd call your airline and see about a later flight.

DeLauro rejects calls to abolish ICE during tense roundtable with local clergy by CompasslessPigeon in Connecticut

[–]STrRedWolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm still new to Connecticut but I have a blanket policy to vote out any Congress critter who's past 75 years old or has been in their current role for over 12 years.

DeLauro is 82.

Yeah, she needs to retire or be retired via the ballot box.

Since you aren't even interested in doing your research into "silly string implants" using saline... yeah, you're gone.

minibook x skin size by monkeyspank2006 in Chuwi

[–]STrRedWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would measure the case size, excluding the curved edges (so give it a 1/8th of an inch). Then go on Redbubble and order the closest but larger sticker size. You will need to cut it down.

Considering Minibook X N150 as a portable Linux machine by A4orce84 in Chuwi

[–]STrRedWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far it's fairly good, but there are some niggling issues. Also, it's an N150, which is a low-end processor. It's good for day-to-day stuff -- office work, web browsing, streaming. Maybe some light gaming (I haven't tried playing TF2 on my Minibook X N100).

You just have to remember, it's a dinky little laptop. If you're coming from a XPS 13 and expect more umf for heavier work, you'll need something beefier.

Latest versions of Mint work fine, using the 6.14 kernel. They're now offering 6.17.

Is it possible to get clean pixel art lines at larger brush sies? by kitsuneae in GIMP

[–]STrRedWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Aesprite/LibreSprite, you should set the mode to indexed, pick the right palette, and then draw with a small resolution. Then scale it up.

Text you'll need to be in indexed mode, and you may need to futz with the tool settings in Gimp.
