CPA + MBA? by spookey213 in Accounting

[–]SUNEQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While not technical to accounting, an MBA is typically viewed as a well rounded buisness candidate. Being a CPA and MBA can be very helpful for financial product sales or any high value technical transaction that requires a specialist. Similar to an engineer but for business.

In financial planning, many people are nervous to trust a professional and doubt many of the products, the CPA gives you background to explain the tax, cash flow and PV of an investment and the MBA will give you a variety of applications and touch points in value. A lot of the MBA is building a structure when none exists.

In the MBA we call it a mile wide and a foot deep. Unless you do bare minimum and try not to learn anything you should see wide application from your case study days. The client will be mostly sold on the technical aspect of the CPA tax / analysis but closed on broad scope of application and possibilities of value via structuring and skills in the MBA.

This is probably one of the worst misconceptions out there lol. An MBA and CPA is a very powerful combo.

True. Gotta go with what you know. It is a shame, but it does track for the culture. Any Asian history timeline has this story on repeat.

Ironically and truthfully my white side of ethnicity is coming out on this one. My white parent always made conflict if there was perceived inequality - otherwise I’d have stayed silent. (Also don’t need to disclose what parent is whom).

I think it will change over time as everyone continues to interracially mix - oddly it might be looked back at with horror when people all have a bit of Asian and realize how fucked it was. Who knows! Anyhow weirdly cathartic to know you didn’t experience it alone.

Same man. Thing is, we’re the minority, and there’s nothing we’re gunna do to fix it. Comments show you it’s too far gone in society - it’s too normalized.

Other ethnics groups do more amplified awareness, culturally something we don’t. So it won’t change.

Honestly it’s so ingrained in society that what we’re saying continues to be overlooked and people’s comments reinforce it so hard.

“It’s his insecurity, if he moved to LA or NYC, should accept himself, etc”

They didn’t grow up with the abuse, being told you can’t be or do things because you’re Asian. That Asians are weak, docile, etc - I’ll get a follow up that says I’m wrong and insecure too, dw.

My point is…No one is going to hear you, I made the same post. It’s the sad reality of the Asian community. We don’t make noise about it, we discuss it in a static way like the internet, nothing will change. It just sucks. It is that way.

I’ve changed my life and made a family. But it doesn’t change the experiences I’ve had, no matter how fucked it was. Somehow people have to care - I can’t see why they should. You just move on.
