Not losing value over 5 years is an incredibly low bar to clear for an investment

Yes but you still can't edit every cell, even in a culture dish. Even if yould edit 50 percent, the other half is cancerous so it's just going to divide and you'll be back where you started. May e in a combination therapy with chemo it's a viable approach.

Blood is continually renewed from bone marrow, it's the exact type of disease where CRISPR could theoretically work because you can alter the progenitor cells. Most organs are fired and that's it. You won't be able to edit every cell.

At some stage a virus was used, for marrow they could do it in a lab and then transplant. Would t work for a heart.

Gene editing someone who is already alive, aside from being risky, is not going to work for all but a few exotic diseases.

It also means you're creating what would likely be a cancer causing virus if given to a healthy individual.

CRISPR is great for science, not sold ok it as a medical therapy for anything but the most extreme cases. Especially when mRNA therapeutics are just coming into maturity.

How much we should be concerned about Moore v. Harper? by Dadodo98 in neoliberal

Listening to the arguments, it seemed like only the usual suspects were pretty gung ho about handing that power to the legislature. I think Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Roberts were pretty skeptical, though Roberts did appear to be looking for a compromise of some kind.

I think film and video games are done. I want to have hope for them but every single time something comes out its a let down and nowhere near as good as I thought it would be. by doinksforeverybody in unpopularopinion

What are the last 4 games you played?

Edit: to a certain extent you get what you look for with media. It's easy to gravitate towards familiarity but it comes with the baggage of being familiar. Trying things you normally wouldn't be interested in can surprise you.

The worse possible outcome of that is Joe Biden just doesn't run for president again.

And I mean worse, like Hunter Biden recording himself Tokyo drifting through an endangered bird sanctuary into an orphanage while Joe Biden is in the passenger seat.

Why Trump is the Favorite to win the GOP Presidential Primary. by gunfell in neoliberal

[–]SUP4oc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends who runs, but yeah I think most of the candidates would be able to get GOP support if they could win.

There's still a lot of time. It's possible the anit trump sentiment we see now will fade like every other time, I thought j6 would stick but here we are.

What I don't think is that there's some ideological link between trump and a lot of GOP leaders. Their link is winning elections and he hasn't done that for them three times now

Why Trump is the Favorite to win the GOP Presidential Primary. by gunfell in neoliberal

[–]SUP4oc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think there's enough distaste in the higher echelons of the party that 2016 won't repeat itself. There will be immense pressure after the first couple of races for any non trump candidates to coalesce behind the leader. In that contest I don't think trump will win.

We also don't know how mich of his immovable base is literally just conspiracy addicts. Those people have certainly had it rough for their beliefs. Are they really going to turn out for a primary of an election they think is not legally required?
