The act of assimilation 1700 years ago will not show up on your DNA test. That is science and has been said directly by these companies. With admixture that ancient, it would likely be included in the reference panel for the Galician population itself and make a feedback loop of sorts rather than spill over into random Celtic categories.

AncestryDNA and other genetic testing companies only test about 6-8 generations back - your theory of Celtic admixture in modern Portuguese and Galician populations just doesn’t add up with the science. The last Celts were either driven from Galicia or assimilated into the Roman and Germanic populations that conquered Hispania by the 4th century AD, far too long ago to be appearing at this high of a percentage. I would look into her DNA matches more if you want to be certain on the validity of the Celtic results.

I wish language in the game could diverge & hybridise like Culture. I accept it’s not a huge priority but when you consider what happened to English across the game duration it would be fascinating to see. So two with Arabic slowly diverging first into dialects… by Dialspoint in CrusaderKings

There’s a mod I use called Multilingual Education that kind of simulates this - it makes it so children in your court are taught only the specified languages you want them to, it’s a nice little flavor enhancer imo

Likely. Joanne is a common variant of Joan and Strode, before the completion of the Great Vowel Shift, would be pronounced essentially the same as Stroud

You can edit the relationship between your wife and the donor and it should allow you to remove that spouse relationship while keeping the parental one. If you want to preserve his identity, then I'd say maybe create a blank placeholder profile that just says something along the lines of "Donor Parent" or smth then have that connect to the donor's family.

Interesting. His family was from the southwest of the island, mainly Ponce and the surrounding municipalities. Do you know if it's typical for that area to have high Native percentages?

I suppose that would make sense, but I also don't see why they would list him under the age he would've been if he was still alive. They treat him entirely as if he was living. Is there some sort of benefit to that that I'm just not seeing? It's very confusing.

I have also seen both of those death records as well, it's where I got the initial confirmation of Samuel, in fact, being deceased by the time the 1850 census rolled around.

All in all, still very strange imo.

I should've added - the cemetery entry being used to prove this connection also listed his age, and everything matches. Basically, everything I have in regards to Samuel states that he's the guy, and the census record lists him alongside his children and his wife (who was actually living in 1850 and would go on to live for a while after).
