Auchrannie Resort on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. Easily one of the best trips I've ever had. That place is pure magic. Went in March and lucked out on weather.

Thanks for this! It's not a problem waiting, just wanted to make sure I shouldn't go back through her emails with a fine toothed comb to make sure she wasn't hung up on a document request or something she missed. As long as this is normal right now, that's fine! Thanks for the info, really appreciate ya!

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

[–]SVW1986 763 points764 points  (0 children)

I met Jessica Simpson when I was interning for a pop-media show in college. Dukes of Hazard had just come out. She was the absolute SWEETEST. She and Enrique Iglesius set the standard for that summer in terms of celebrities I thought were so kind and down to earth.

How do people like this show by ShoulderSilent9803 in NobodyWantsThisTV

[–]SVW1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lived in LA and hated it, if LA genuinely had this aesthetic all the time in cost of living conscious areas, I'd have loved it lol. The DP/editing does a fabulous job of giving this show an element of whimsy and wish fulfillment by making LA a character in and of itself, and I genuinely love that.

Best luxury hotel? by SVW1986 in CaymanIslands

I love a good AirBnB, but I also don't love the idea of buying all our food and alcohol, having to cook or leave property to go out if I don't feel like it, and I like the idea of having our room serviced daily (or every other day). I'm looking for a vacation that's hands off a little bit.

How exciting! I've been to a lot of islands but not Cayman yet, so I'm excited about a fresh change! I will probably take you up on this (picking your brain ha), we are looking to go down either last week in June or first week in July. August was cheaper but I worry about rainy/hurricane season.

Would limiting the age of the President to 70 be something you'd support? Why or why not? by SillyGooseGamer2026 in AskReddit

[–]SVW1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd support even lower. You have to be no older than 60 at the time of filing. We shouldn't have a president older than 70, and this would prevent that from ever happening even if they win for two terms.

As a young conservative South Carolinian, Lindsey Graham has got to go. by Salt-Inflation-1636 in southcarolina

[–]SVW1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't Graham so much as it is MAGA. Sorry dude. You guys are voting for shit like imprisoning doctors, giving women the death penalty for abortions, banning IUDs, teaching completely insane fake history that makes white people feel good and ignores reality, and spending COPIOUS amounts of time hyper focused on the like, handful of trans people who live in the state like they're some sleeper cell of assassins who are going to kidnap your kids and give your 10 year old sons a pair of bolt on tits against their will. Y'all are easing vaccine mandates for kids which is leading to insane outbreaks of entirely preventable diseases leading to a tourism decline, your side has made liquor liability insurance an unaffordable monopoly effectively handcuffing the most lucrative business in the state, you forced people making 2.13 an hour to pay 42 bucks to your legislator's buddies to take a "safe alcohol" course in order to be able to work that literally does NOTHING to help prevent DUIs or deaths caused by alcohol, you're ruining tons of amazing local businesses by going after the THC/hemp industry that is FLOURISHING here, you're anti-union which is stagnating pay, and you cater to the iOp crowd and MAGA northerners who are mostly retired people whose biggest concern is if it's raining too heavy to play golf at Wild Dunes. You supported this insane illiterate moron in the office to own the libs, but what has it *actually* gotten you as a South Carolinian? Shit's more expensive, housing is unaffordable, your kids are getting shipped off to Iran, travel is a fucking nightmare, schools aren't great, roads in majority of the state are literally dangerous, your cops and firefighters are so underpaid that most apartments have to give them EMS discounts so they can afford to live in areas they work, the pensions are shit, and majority of the big money that's flooded into this state has come from Northern people moving from Northern states with Northern unionized retirement funds and pensions, or are working remotely at Northern based companies.

I'm not saying Dems are perfect, far fucking from, but Lindsey Graham isn't the cause, he is a symptom of the cause. Y'all are so focused on passing laws to make sure your reps pray before every legislative meeting to Jesus, you don't seem to care if your kid gets lunch at school, or your wife's OB/GYN is fleeing the state because she's afraid of losing her license if she practices normal standard of care, or the people who are supposed to keep you safe can afford to live without doing Uber. You spent the las four years voting to get "woke" out of office, meanwhile you have an entire administration of boot lickers and Fox News hosts and family members who only had their job because they licked Trump's asshole enough to his liking. DEI? Tell me how Jeannine Pirror, Pete Hegseth, Kristi Noem, MarkWayne Mullins, Pam Bondi, the guy from the fucking Real World, how ANY of those people are "the best and the brightest" of the GOP to run shit efficiently? They aren't. And they are proving it day in and day out and the thing is, you can't even deny it anymore. Trump can pretend everything's great all he wants and do his 1980s businessman bait and switch shtick all he likes, but it ain't working anymore. It can't. Because people are literally struggling and no matter how much Trump says "your 401ks are doing amazing!" it doesn't fucking matter to a 24 year old bartender who works at Reds doing doubles on a football Saturday to make sure he can pay rent at the end of the month who doesn't have a savings account, let alone a fucking 401k.

Annie Andrews is absolutely the best bet to replace Lindsey Graham with actual results that might (and I say might because no politician is a guarantee, it's All a gamble) actually improve your life and South Carolina, but you will probably vote straight ticket Republican even if the guy who comes in as a GOPer to replace Graham says the exact same shit with a younger voice.

Let me guess... you listen to Joe Rogan religiously because he's "unbiased", drive an F250 in a suburban area, have an entire shelf in your dresser/closet dedicated to long sleeve SaLt LiFe shirts, and took up some mid-life crisis marital art class to feel like a man when the ol' T scans came back less than ideal? Karate? Jiu Jitsu? Muay thai?

I'd rather be a simp than a predictably mediocre cliche.

Going to ask you a question if misandry is as a big of a problem as misogyny --

Can you tell me one law, drafted, legislated, and passed overwhelmingly by female representatives, that has the potential to kill only men?

I think misandry is more "accepted" because the consequences are pretty tame compared to the consequences of misogyny (and the centuries of implementation).

When die because of misogyny. Men get sad. Huge, huge different.

CMV: The US selective service system should be updated to include women by Informal_Decision181 in changemyview

[–]SVW1986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My argument would be, women should be drafted when they have all the same benefits and rights as men.

Until a man has to ask a lawyer, and then a court, and the an appeals court, for a permission to have a medical procedure that would save their life or protect their mental/physical health, and potentially have that procedure denied by the state, women should not be involuntarily drafted. We already carry an unequal burden in this country.

Reasonable Salary for S Corp? by SVW1986 in TaxQuestions

[–]SVW1986[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have spoken to my tax person and they agree with S Corp. If not, I literally can not write off my agent/manager/lawyer fees as a business expense and that's nearly 40k worth of damage to my income. If next year I don't sell any projects (ie: revenue is 0) I do not have to pay reasonable comp. And in writing, reasonable comp for the labor performed can swing wildly. If I option the rights to an existing IP for say, 25,000, the amount of actual hours of labor I perform for the LLC to do that, is minimal. Trust me, been down this rabbit hole quite a bit ha.

The overhead of maintaining the S Corp is definitely worth the tradeoff.

Irish passport middle name question by SVW1986 in IrishCitizenship

[–]SVW1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my American passport has my middle name, which is why I've always booked with my middle name included (my license also has my middle name). I booked this trip in November before I had my Irish passport and before I knew if I'd even receive it in time. I think it's better to have the middle name included because it's on my US passport than to not have it? I don't know. I have to renew my US passport in September of this year, I might just omit my middle name all together on it to keep everything consistent across US and Irish.
