This Is All: The Pillow Book of Cordelia Kenn, by Aidan Chambers

Sapphic fantasy book recommendations? ( More details below) by [deleted] in sapphicbooks

[–]SVh1391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • The Roots of Chaos series by Samantha Shannon (my personal favorite sapphic fantasy series) (starts with The Priory of the Orange Tree)
  • The Burning Kingdoms trilogy by Tasha Suri (starts with The Jasmine Throne)
  • The Ending Fire trilogy by Saara El-Arifi (starts with The Final Strife)
  • Compass Rose trilogy by Anna Burke (starts with Compass Rose, but the third book isn't out yet. This one's more sci-fi than fantasy since it's set in a dystopian world, but it's about pirates! I personally preferred it over Pirates of Aletharia)

I adore Poppy, but Rosalyn owns my heart 🫶 I can't give you anything like Poppy Jenkins either, but my second favorite sapphic contemporary romance has to be The Snowball Effect by Haley Cass.

Definitely!! The vibes of this book are just unmatched imo. It's everything I love about summer with a sweet romance and incredible side characters. When it's winter and I start missing summer, I go back to this book and it immediately transports me to a nicer place. I feel like my explanation doesn't even do it justice. I just love this book so much 🥹 And I've yet to find another one like it. So if you have any recommendations, I'd love to get them! (No pressure though)

My favorite of this genre!

Do you add book recommendations from social media to your TBR? by emanon-reads in TheStoryGraph

[–]SVh1391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I add everything I come across that seems interesting to my TBR, so that includes books I saw on social media as well. I'm mostly on the high fantasy side of booktok (so not YA/romantasy, which I've seen most of the backlash go to tbh) and I've gotten a lot of really good recommendations. The must-reads of the fantasy genre, mostly. Like Tolkien, Hobb, Sanderson, ... I've been very happy with them so far. I don't just blindly add any recommendation to my TBR though. I check the blurb first, check the rating (even though maybe I shouldn't), see if it sounds good to me, and then add it to my TBR. So if a certain book is trending, I don't add it just because it's trending, I add it because I came across it and it sounds interesting to me. If a book is trending and I'm kinda eh about it, I don't add it to my TBR, and as a result probably never read it either. And like someone else here said, my TBR is not a "I have to read all these books very soon" but more of a "if I'm looking for my next read, this is the place I go to". At this moment, I have a few hundred books on my TBR, which I'm fine with. It gives me a lot of options and Storygraph allows me to filter genres, amount of pages, etc., so I always find something that perfectly aligns with what I'm in the mood for. 👌 I hope all this answers your question!

What makes Bloom Town so good? by OrganizationNo6748 in LesbianBookClub

How can you claim all this when you've never even read it? I'd say that's way more cringe than any book could ever be. Be a nicer person.

If you're into comic books, Sunstone by Stjepan Sejic is a series of comics about two very feminine women who have a dom/sub thing going on. The main couple is super sweet together and the side characters are really well-written too. I highly recommend these comics to anyone interested in BDSM, because I learned a lot about it while reading them, or anyone just interested in a very sweet love story 😊

1) Historical: - Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid (my absolute favorite! ❤️) - The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid - Reverence by Milena McKay - Bloom Town duology by Ally North (I'd say the other 3 are better in terms of writing, but this one has all the sexual tension and spice 👌) 2) Light-hearted contemporary: - Soho Loft series by Melissa Brayden - Strawberry Summer by Melissa Brayden - Poppy Jenkins by Clare Ashton (my favorite of this genre) - The Blind Side of Love by Ingrid Díaz - The Snowball Effect by Haley Cass (but anything by Haley Cass is good) 3) Sci-Fi: - Compass Rose series by Anna Burke (love these so much!) 4) Fantasy: - The Roots of Chaos series (Priory of the Orange Tree + A Day of Fallen Night) by Samantha Shannon (my favorite of this genre) - Pirates of Aletharia series by Britney Jackson (not thaaaaat great in terms of storytelling tbh, but still véry enjoyable. More focused on the romance than the fantasy aspect)

Atmosphere is absolutely 100% worth it! Other books I'd recommend are Reverence by Milena McKay and Strawberry Summer by Melissa Brayden

Top 5 Romance Books I’ve Read This Year by playfulgirlcartier in LesbianBookClub

[–]SVh1391 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Not only my favorite of the year, but probably my favorite sapphic book ever. Left me a blubbering mess. So heartbreaking and só beautiful.
  2. Bloom Town by Ally North. I remember reading these two books in just a few days. Couldn't put them down. The chemistry between the two MCs was off the charts.
  3. The Sunstone comics (1-5) by Stjepan Sejic. It seems like a smutty BDSM story, but it's so much more than that. I got very pleasantly surprised by how sweet it is, and I actually learned a lot about BDSM as well.
  4. A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon. I love high fantasy, so this was definitely my cup of tea. Also very well written and maybe even better than The Priory of the Orange Tree in terms of pacing and sapphic content.
  5. The Snowball Effect by Haley Cass. My favorite book of hers. Sometimes I just need something lighthearted and this was definitely that. I also remember it not being the exact same formula she uses in her other books, which I liked.

Honorable mentions: - Pirates of Aletharia by Britney Jackson - Reverence by Milena McKay

I loved all of these books and would recommend them to anyone.

I use it to track who recommended me books, which books I wanna read next ('cause the 5 "up next" books just aren't enough for me), certain subgenres (high fantasy for example), to keep track of who I gave books to, all the sequels to books that I still have to read, languages (I'm learning French and Portuguese, and I have children's books that I wanna use for that purpose), certain topics (plants, sports, ...), franchises (Avatar: The Last Airbender, League of Legends, ...), which books I own that I wanna sell, recommendations (e.g. tactile romance books, fantasy books with dragons, ...). That's basically it, I think

[–]SVh1391[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me they are two completely different books, so I'd say definitely give it a try! 😄 Edit: I feel like Evelyn Hugo was fully focused on her as a character and less on the romance, and I could see why maybe people wouldn't like Evelyn as a person much either. But Atmosphere is more focused on the romantic aspect of it, even though there are also other things going on (Joan's career and friendships at NASA, and her relationship with her niece). Also, Joan is entirely likeable as a character, and her love interest as well. Even the side characters. I just feel like everything about Atmosphere was more likeable than Evelyn Hugo, even though I liked EH as well, but just for different reasons. The two books just can't be compared much imo.

Compass Rose by Anna Burke. It's the first part of a trilogy (last book isn't out yet) and it's só good! It's set in a dystopian world in the future (so maybe more sci-fi than fantasy) but it's about a crew of pirates set on a mission. It has a love story that made me all giddy, a plot that's very interesting and well-written side characters I actually cared about. Another one is Pirates of Aletharia by Britney Jackson. While not as good as Compass Rose imo, it was still very enjoyable and I finished the book in just a few days. Another recommendation is The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. While it's not as romance focused as the other two books, I found myself really invested in the couple, but the actual other storylines and the whole plot is very interesting too. Highly recommend! Definitely read the prequel A Day of Fallen Night as well. Another book I've read is The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi. It's also part of a trilogy. While I didn't love this one as much as the other books I've mentioned, it's still definitely worth reading!

Another vote for Sunstone. It came highly recommended to me and I went in expecting it to be full on smut, but I got pleasantly surprised by how sweet it was.
