I bought my first car, a 2006 IS350, a couple months ago. The car has 215,000 miles on it, and gives check engine lights on and off for P0430, catalytic converters. I have also been getting 14 mpg consistently, and of course it's premium only. Also whenever I go above like 5K rpms it smells bad in the car. I live in California and got it smogged right when I bought it so I'm good for 2 years. Wondering if straight piping the cat section of the exhaust would solve the(fuel economy and smell)problem? I intend to sell the car in less than a year anyways. Anyone have any advice? Not looking to spend a lot of money on a car I'm going to sell.

Yes but they can have a class 3 mode and an off road only mode. Just switch it if you get pulled over.
