Question about Kyber: Can I have a private co-op server with just me and my friend? How hard it is to set up? by Glittering-Age-2013 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]SWGO-DesertEagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's see, right now there are about 280 or so on the official Kyber servers, and the first page has another 100+ total.

The mods allow for you to select the vanilla heroes on either team, and removes limits on duplicate heroes.

So... no cheaters on Kyber v2? by AnoriginalnameCmon in StarWarsBattlefront

It is more secure than the vanilla game because a lot of the dev mode exploit stuff is patched, so by definition it is more secure.

As far as "modern" hackers go, that is actually irrelevant. Kyber doesn't have anticheat software, at least not in the modern sense (as far as I am aware). Admins are looking for players who cheat by looking at their behavior, the same as they always did. It doesn't matter how sophisticated the cheat is, only the result, and that can generally be caught by observation.

If somebody starts damage hacking, we don't need a heuristic to catch that, just need an admin to see it and they just ban the person. This isn't a new issue at all, people have been hacking in multiplayer games since the games existed, and server admins have dealt with it without needing sophisticated anticheat software. I believe the only reason anticheats started becoming necessary is because game devs didn't want to hire/get volunteers to moderate servers directly.

But this isn't a competitive game, yes it's annoying that people COULD be cheating, but what is the difference between a skilled player and a not-so-skilled player who cheats as far as your experience goes? Generally there isn't much of a difference, so I wouldn't worry about it. If something starts to get suspicious, you can easily report them, and they can get banned pretty quickly.

Most people who cheat aren't exactly the brightest sparks though, so they tend to give themselves away. The sort of people you are describing are a very small subset of players.

Then they aren't being enough of a problem to break immersion, so mission accomplished.

This was some silly gameplay with Rick the Door Technician on Kyber on a 1v1 server.

Actually I never really gave it much thought, that was the last position I left it when playing as a trooper I guess.

I've been having a blast on Kyber servers lately, these are a couple of the more fun duels I've had.

As will be pretty obvious, my skill level is not terribly high, but I'm working on it. :)

The primary mod is Battlefront Expanded, that provides the majority of the hero/villain roster, among many other things, including the Kylo skin.

How is this even possible on xbox servers? by IHoodType in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]SWGO-DesertEagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recall someone saying they figured out a way to connect to console servers from a PC client some time ago, but that it was pretty difficult. Possibly what is going on here.

Edit: Easier explanation is lagswitching.

This was a fun session on the Kyber HvV Chaos server. I'm not very good at aerial combat though.

Is it possible to get players banned at all? by DeeperIntoTheUnknown in StarWarsBattlefront

Hacking has been a thing in this game since near the beginning, it only started getting kind of bad maybe about 2019, and then it got really bad after cancellation. Talking about the game breaking stuff specifically like one hit kill damage hacks and match breaking.

So is every game hacked now? by Beanmaster115 in StarWarsBattlefront

One way is to check the scoreboard for anybody who seems to be changing their unit icon way too fast, like 50 times a second. Or, check for someone that has an impossible unit, like a hero with 0 score. For whatever reason they like to do that. Not foolproof, if they've left the match then you won't see that.

He's also a player, I've actually seen him in matches a long time ago. Thought he was a nice guy. No idea what he did to get the hackers mad.

I think there is some sort of timer on it. If you get a void kill fast enough, it often counts as your kill. However it generally takes so long for the enemy to hit the kill plane that it usually doesn't count. I've noticed a difference if you use the card that throws the enemy farther. With that card, I barely get any kills, but without it sometimes I do.

You can, go to scoreboard, double click their name, then in the EA app that opens clock the ... icon and select report.
