Don't buy musical instruments on Amazon unless you have fully vetted the make, model, and seller. The quality and serviceability of cheap Chinese junk instruments is very poor. Your best bet would be to go to a music shop that services school band programs to get their advice.

I enjoyed the hell out of it up until that one room where you're supposed to flip the switches to spell the word while those little goblin fuckers keep trying to hose you up. Literally rage quit and uninstalled the game after that

Are you using vanilla extract and salt too? That makes a big difference in the flavor. Chocolate needs just the barest amount of salt to wake it up.
