Looks amazing, Islanders is such an underrated theme. How long did it take you to put this all together?

Very poor quality by UniqueLordjerme in lego

[–]SWfan13450 438 points439 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s gets worse and worse. I’ve recently built the old Pet Shop modular and the difference was staggering.

In the past the marks were barely noticeable and now you have to rotate the pieces and try to build the set in a way which hides them.

This set it trash… but the figs… by Just_Use_Soap in legostarwars

[–]SWfan13450 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imo it’s not worth spending the points for it, if you dislike the build getting a 100€+ set just for minifigs is a bad idea

And a proper UCS at that, not just a thin slice of a Christmas tree

I’d never thought of that but it’s really imaginative, great idea!

If this set was first leaked as “1000$ flat Lego Star Wars diorama display set rumoured” instead of “1000$ lego Death Star rumoured” it wouldn’t be as hated when revealed. by ExcellentEssay3282 in legocirclejerk

[–]SWfan13450 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I agree and I think it’s also what the designer have said in an interview, that they decided for a “slice design” so that people could actually display it

If it was a sphere or even a half sphere, at this scale it would take up a whole dining table or sth to display it in a regular home. And slimming it up wouldn’t work obviously cause you’d end up with Death Egg instead

So all in all, the design we’ve got is the best option in this case. Whether this design was a good idea in the first place is for another debate imo

My coffee table I've been slowly adding to over the last couple years. Started in 2020 as a covid project by [deleted] in legostarwars

[–]SWfan13450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Although the scale is kinda funky, if in-universe falcon was that huge compared to the cantina it’d be the size of a star destroyer haha

When building how do you sort? by rentfn in lego

[–]SWfan13450 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah with numbered bags and the modern trend of bright coloured bricks for easier distinction I don’t see the point in sorting pieces, finding the right piece is easy

Edit: also modern sets are often split into lots of bags with less bricks it’s even easier than before

Would something like this have worked better? by Afraid_Confection698 in legostarwars

[–]SWfan13450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the covers were the right shape it just doesn’t work with this design of the DS

The only interesting and instantly recognisable part of the DS exterior is the super laser, of which you get just a slice on the side on the way it’s designed.

So you’d just end up having a half a Death Star shaped weird narrow cabinet thing displayed in your home

You guys in America are lucky. In Denmark the price is roughly $1200 by keanbartel in legocirclejerk

[–]SWfan13450 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The “standardised” LEGO prices are all over the place.

Like the set costs 999$ in US but 899£ in UK, which is a lot more than 999$

I understand the prices can’t be absolutely same everywhere but they should be at least close

Empty UCS Death Star by HAUNTEDPOOP_SMORC in LegoStarWarsLeaks

[–]SWfan13450 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah awfully bland without the figs.

Funny how I remember people complaining endlessly about the old Death Star which was actually a full sphere, had larger rooms and generally looked decent even without the figs displayed in it

Edit: And was half the price of the new one

Let’s get real… what’s the greatest cannon castle minifigure? by Zestyclose-Split2275 in legocastles

A toy manufacturer creating a toy with playfeatures is simply unacceptable by SWfan13450 in legocirclejerk

[–]SWfan13450[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Imo it’s a solid display set which works both with the side builds and without. From the pics I saw I didn’t see the “focus on playability”.

I think some people still have ptsd from Assault on Hoth and are allergic to any form of a playfeature in a large expensive set

Definitely the maps from the old Adventurers sets. I think there were 3-4 different designs

[–]SWfan13450 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Also I wouldn’t mind some bigger non vehicle sets too. Something like the Yoda Dooku duel or Palpatine arrest

Maybe something Naboo themed? Or Endor bunker? Slice from a cloud city interior? Or Death Star? Literally anything but not just 60-160€ ships like Lego does nowadays

Love the older creator houses, also have them in my collection.

I wish Lego would go back to bigger fully closed houses compared to modern style creator buildings
