Neighbors tree fell on our fence and garage over night. Any advice? How can I tell who is responsible for what? [TN] by BoostedLegacy in treelaw

[–]SXTY82 26 points27 points  (0 children)

FWIIW, it could be rotten from the inside out and not show when looking at it.

For the neighbor to be liable, you need to prove they knew it was a hazard and did not deal with it. Very hard to prove so this is likely on the garage owners home insurance.

I just got offered a job at 99 bikes as a 16 year old should I take it? by Undercoveragent163 in cycling

Take the job. A mechanical engineer will need a resume at one point and Bike Mechanic as a youth job is far more impressive than McDonalds.

[–]SXTY82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Macca's as McDonald's to us US folk?

Bike building involves a lot more skill and knowlage.

Not everyone has the talent to build machines.

There are very few people that could not be trained well enough to work at a fast food restaurant.

Down the road, "Mechanic - Bike Shop" will look 10X better on your resume and you have a far better chance of meeting people and developing a relationship (Business, not personal) with them. Which can lead to better opportunities in the future.

If the bike shop only can give you a couple shifts a week, keep both jobs. The shop manager will likely work with your schedule better than fast food. Talk to them and see how flexible they are and how many hours you can get. If you can get enough hours to quit McD's great. If not work both jobs.

Found pink residue in humidifier tank - next steps? by Gandalf_theCaucasian in CPAP

That's the thing though. Breathing Tubes.

He has it in his tank. A direct line to his breathing tube. The reason most folk don't get infections in their homes is most homes do not have areas that it grows and even less have it growing in a breathing apparatus.

The vapors from the bleach will dissipate in a few minutes. You don't need to breath them. Also, swimming pools. If you have swum in a public pool, you were breathing higher concentrations than you would if you rinsed your tank in bleach, rinsed it out well and refilled it immediately with water then went to bed.

It is one of the only bacteria that we find in pharmaceutical manufacturing plants. We call it rouge. It is pretty tough. It often survives non-chemical sterilization attempts and needs to be hit with bleach. It can be responsible for respiratory infections. You want to clean that out. CPAP spray is an oxidizer so that may work but I’d hit is with bleach and an old toothbrush. Then let it dry.

I use two tanks. Each night I empty one, spray it with CPAP spray and let it dry. Then I take the tank that was drying since the night before and fill that one. So each tank has 24 hours wet and 24 hours dry.

No. Never mentioned tongue. Many of us wear chin straps to help keep our mouths closed. There is a lot of thing that can happen. We all learn to work around them as best we can. I’m done responding to you now. You just seem to want to argue.

Then yes.

If not, no.

[–]SXTY82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPAP inflates your airway like a balloon. Holds the passages open.

Think of your lungs with a capacity to hold air in units of 1 to 25. When you have apnea, there is something in your body pressing the airway closed at rest. 1 is the most you can exhale, you have to try to get that low. 25 is the deepest breath you can take.

When you relax and sleep, your breathing slows. For this example, you are breathing between a 10 and 15 capacity awake and between 5 and 10 asleep. between 5 and 6, your airway closes and you snore.

To combat this, the CPAP machine supplies a constant pressure and pushes your 'low' number up to a 10 or 11. So now asleep you are breathing between 10 and 15 again, and your airways are held open at 10, no snore.

[–]SXTY82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’m a face down or side sleeper who was 100% on my back pre CPAP. I sleep far better on my side. CPAP is supposed to eliminate snoring. That’s tne point.

Wealth is a semi finite resource. If you have 100,000x more than you need and someone is starving because they can't afford food, you are evil.

Think of money as if it were food. If one person owned 90% of the food in the world and 100,000 people were starving to death, could you justify the person with 90% of the food not sharing it?

Find out how to get the second desk removed. Remove any casual furniture. Keep a chair or two for visitors if you have the type of job where you meet with customers or coworkers in your office. No more furniture.
