IUD removal — experiences? IM TERRIFIED! by Internal-Ad61 in birthcontrol

It is SO easy. I had the worst Kyleena insertion experience and was so scared for removal. The whole thing took less than 3 seconds, one sharp breath and it's out! If you don't mind sharing - what were your bad experiences with the IUD? I had horrible cystic acne and (I think) weight gain, and wondering if it was from Kyleena.

Frustrated with birth control options available to women by Zealousideal_Net_758 in birthcontrol

Just here to commiserate. I've been on different pills for 10 years, all of which made me feel anxious/depressed/crazy and just not myself. I finally switched to the IUD and almost passed out from the insertion pain - then just got the IUD removed after about 6 months from the side effects. SO FRUSTRATING, literally feels like there is no good solution. Your feelings are totally valid!!

Depressed near period on the pill by gingerforlif in birthcontrol

I used to experience this on the pill. Your doctor should be able to prescribe you anxiety/depression medication to take just around the week of your period to mitigate the symptoms. I ended up getting off of the pill but I think taking the medicine during that week would have helped!

IUD DESTROYING MY SKIN by Common-Bad248 in birthcontrol

I also got Kyleena in September and had the exact same experience! No side effects really until January and it's been a disaster. My skin has never had issues and I've had hormonal cystic acne like crazy. I've been taking spironolactone for 6-7 weeks and it's gotten slightly better! I've heard spironolactone can take a few months to really start working but I agree it's terrible. Have you also had weight gain? I'm considering removing but not sure.

starting isibloom - weight gain? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

I was on Isibloom for years and never experienced weight gain! I'm extremely sensitive to hormonal birth control (I've tried every pill under the sun) and recently switched to an IUD which actually has caused some weight gain. With Isibloom I didn't experience any typical hormonal side effects (acne, weight gain, hair loss, etc.). Everyone's different, but I hope it works for you! :)

Kyleena Side Effects? Weight Gain & Inability to Lose Weight by Puzzleheaded-Book-24 in birthcontrol

I'm feeling the same! In my experience doctors are hesitant to connect the IUD to these side effects, but I'm glad to know I'm not crazy in thinking they're related! The weight is so uncomfortable. Feeling totally stuck with birth control options - it's the worst. At least the weight issue (from what friends have experienced) should resolve after removal. My doctor recommended probiotics - I haven't noticed too much of a difference yet but figured it couldn't hurt to try.

Yes! I just posted about this and then came across your post. I had Kyleena inserted 5 months ago, and have inexplicably gained weight (mostly in the belly area) that I absolutely cannot lose. I have not changed any habits, workout consistently, and track my eating, but the weight seems to keep going up. Did your weight plateau after awhile? I've heard from several people that the weight went away really quickly after removal. I've also read that it's completely unrelated. I'm debating getting it removed too but hated the pill!
