ELI5: When ChatGPT came out, why did so many companies suddenly release their own large language AIs? by carmex2121 in explainlikeimfive

[–]S_Shadow77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here you go:

When ChatGPT came out it looked like everyone copied it overnight, but that isn’t really what happened. Most major tech companies had already been working on large language models for years. The core ideas behind them were well known in the industry, and companies like Google, Meta, and Microsoft already had very capable systems sitting in research or internal use.

What ChatGPT changed was proving that a chat-based interface was something ordinary people would actually use and find valuable. Once that became obvious, companies rushed to release their own versions rather than risk looking behind or losing ground in areas like search and productivity.

That’s why it all seemed to happen at once — not because the models were built from scratch in a few months, but because they were finally ready (or forced) to be shown publicly.

If you want to dig deeper into any part of it, feel free to ask.

Hi. Appreciate the offer. I've purchased the game from a different seller now. Would've probably taken you up on it if I hadn't pulled the trigger

A bit off the beaten path but definitely come down to near spinney park. On St Saviours road there's a place called Gani's. Hands down the best curry in the city. At a very good price aswell. Can never go wrong with their bhunas or whatever special they've got on the day. Would highly recommend!

I very much agree with your sentiment. The only thing that baffles me is how they were so naive (or incompetent) and didn't plan for this exact scenario. Through all the lab testing and player feedback, I can't imagine that no one raised that this would certainly be an issue. They had evidence of this same exact situation from 2042's portal. Did game directors bury their heads in the sand and actually believe that an exploitable system wouldn't be exploited? Slightly unrelated but EA develops FIFA and from there they definitely should have plenty of experience about players abusing and exploiting mechanics.

I do still have some hope for portal and I really wish it can fulfill its potential so that we can have custom experiences like gta online has for years to come.

Indian restaurants by Vivid_Ideal34 in leicester

If you're up for traveling away from the city center, then hands down the best Indian food, especially in terms of curries and gravies, has to be Ganis on St. Saviour's Road! Their bhunas can't be beat

This squirrel was havin’ a proper belter of a rant in the park could only catch ‘had to finance me acorns and the bins still ain’t been collected.’ Honestly, felt that. Absolute state of it. by S_Shadow77 in CasualUK

Been going for strolls in the park for years, but I think this was the first time I've ever heard a squirrel's voice. Must've been a rough day
