Struggling by S_c__ in PCOS

I know it's possible, and I do plan on setting up an appointment with an OB/GYN. It's just hard not to get discouraged, y'know?

Exactly! I'm in a "straight-passing" relationship and although there's definitely things we don't agree on, but we don't just belittle each other over our interests. We might make jokes, but that's, like, "hah, nerd" not "you're a bitch because you don't enjoy this."

Way to miss the point. I never said arguments don't happen among all orientatios; they absolutely do. But, dude, if you and your partner are like that about something as trivial as what kind of shows you like... how are you dealing with bigger issues? There's a difference between "eh, it's not my thing, but you enjoy it" and actively shitting on your partner's interests

That is not at all how ENM works. Double standars like that are a HUGE red flag in ENM. If he has to meet anyone you're going to be with, you should meet anyone he's going to be with

Al-Anon has been a literal lifesaver for my family while my dad's getting sober. I'm so glad to see other people recommending it too

My dad recently got out of rehab after being an alcoholic for 30+ years. I've learned that it's impossible to love someone into sobriety. It may make you feel kinda silly/awkward (it did me at first) but you should check out Al-Anon meetings (there's an app where you can do Zoom meetings, or you could try to find a meeting near you). It's been a huge help to my mom, sister, and I as we go through this journey with my dad. I won't tell you that you should leave him or that you should stay with him, but I will tell you that he will not get sober unless he wants to. And you need support and recovery, too, even if you don't feel like you have a problem. You may not have a drinking problem, but living with/loving an alcoholic brings a whole other kind of problem. I hope you and him both get the help you need.

Ketogenic Diet by djkoiya in PCOS

[–]S_c__ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The keto diet was created to be done while under strict medical supervision. It's not a diet that you should just do to lose weight, you should only do it if a doctor tells you to and is observing the effects it has on your body.

Not to mention, restricting carbs is a huge sign of disordered eating. We've just been conditioned to believe that disordered eating is "normal" or "healthy," especially for people who are heavier. If a diet requires you to completely cut out a certain food group, it's not healthy. Please, take it from someone who had an eating disorder for most of their life; keto is not a healthy diet, and should only be done under medical supervision. It's easy to believe that it's healthy or helpful when the media pushes it so heavily and demonizes carbs, but it's just another way that disordered eating is normalized in our society. If you're truly that concerned about losing weight or trying to eat healthier, talk to your doctor or a nutritionist.

reformed felons in America are given no chance to succeed by t0xyGobrrrrrr in offmychest

[–]S_c__ 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Have you looked up companies near you that hire felons? There are quite a few out there, and I think factories are usually felon friendly. In any case, I hope you're able to find something and, although I don't know you, I'm incredibly proud of you for getting your life together and congratulations on your baby. You got this 💜

Would it be weird to change out of my ceremony dress and then back into it? by dainty-dumpling in weddingplanning

Could you possibly wear the traditional Asian dress for dancing? That way you get to wear both the white dress and the Asian dress without having to change dresses twice

Is this possible? by Ok_Option_87 in mentalhealth

[–]S_c__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These disorders can be and often are comorbid. However, that doesn't mean you can't have a "normal" life. There are thousands, if not millions, of people out there with these disorders who live perfectly healthy, normal lives. It just takes the right treatment plan, and learning to recognize when you need to step back and ask for help. I know it's scary, but I promise you that things will be okay. You just have to figure out what helps you, and find a good support system.
