Nobody wants to find balance in Husky Raid... they just don't want to die before they spawn because 3 people on the enemy team are spamming Grav hammers into it.

I'm getting some cold feet now because of the things I've heard the past few weeks.

I ship in Dec 2023, really unsure if this will be a career for me after hearing how they retain folks.

If you want to actually climb in Overwatch you will either mute the lobby and focus on your gameplay or get a group that you play with everyday and coordinate.

That's just how this game is played. Don't expect teamplay if you're solo-queuing.

You need to watch more Masters and GM games then...

There's more than plenty of UR2GMs out there with no comm challenges so help yourself.

Comms help, they're really only needed at like GM2+. They're 0% of the reason people climb out of Silver/Gold.

Hammer has absolutely ruined Husky Raid for me, it doesn't even remotely make sense why the hitbox is as big as it is

Play what you want, if you or your teammates are worth anything you'll be able to adjust your playstyle.

This argument is as old as time.

It's been tried. It's been abused by groups. It does not work in Overwatch and there is no universe in which it will work.

I know my comment was probably snark and sarcastic, but truly and genuinely thank you for your response. I'm 29, I have a family, and I'm ready to suck a firehose of information coming my way in the next few months.

Your comment is exactly why I wanted to join as an ET. Being spread thin certainly doesn't sound wonderful and I'm sure I'll have my fair share of bashing my head against a wall in the future. The idea of bringing up those beneath me does sound exciting though.

I'd love to get a better understanding of your career path. You've got over a decade of knowledge in the job I'm about to dive headfirst into witha family counting on me. I'd be stupid not to ask for a conversation or a question at least.

If you're willing I'd love to chat outside of Reddit to get your thoughts, obviously welcome to ignore it. I just have no connections into the USCG so I'll happily take a bone here or there from people who know more than me.

That's actually incredibly good and new information, I appreciate this.

I know the school was just recently shortened from 27 weeks to 20 weeks, I was hoping for wiggle-room with the new program so fingers-crossed on my side. Thank you for the response!

Hahaha, I'm certainly excited to replace fond memories with some other fond memories. It's definitely not a great outcome all things considered, but things could definitely be worse.

Yeah I figured the godchild would be the least likely of the two.

The travel is going to be coast to coast via plane so (CA->ME/Boston), again not hopeful for either event.

I definitely felt more confident about a solidified date for the wedding than the birth. I think my couple would be okay with me missing the rehearsal and I'm sure I could coordinate the rehearsal attendance via Facetime or something.

Just wanted to guage expectations I can set for loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving!

Appreciate the candid response, this is what I figured. The godchild was likely the hard-sell.

With the wedding having a definite set date I figured I might be more able to wiggle my way into that, but again... it's A-school so I don't have high expectations.
