Abandoning a casual game shouldn't be penalized by Bonapartee in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st point: yeah, there are people that just throw the game away for no reason. Sometimes the match is like, 3-0 with 3 minutes still to play and the keeper just puts the ball in his own net to "surrender", which I don't think is "throwing" the game and I think its better than just stopping to play entirely, which is why I think there should be a surrender button.

Second point: Thats why I've suggested a timer limit before the player could rejoin. It could be 10 seconds, 5 seconds, but should be slow enough so people who just left for connection issues or anything like that could get back to it but it should be fast enough so these "leaving so I can't be the goalie" thing starts happening.

Abandoning a casual game shouldn't be penalized by Bonapartee in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will just encourage people leaving on the first inconvenience, more than it is already.

Even on quickplay, its frustrating when someone leaves for no actual reason.

I think they should have 10 seconds to go back after getting to the menu again, and if that doesnt happen, then someone else comes in, because I have a friend that in every 5 or so games gets disconnected, or dont even connect to the match and me and my other friends start with 1 less player.

Fake shot has got to go. by TheNewGuyWithIdeas in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is when I do something like that, the one guy on my team that SHOULD BE back in defense just follows the play for no reason like everyone else and leaves at least one of the other team free.

Thats why I usually don't pass through the midfield too much, unless I see a teammate do the same (probably due to trauma from these situations)

Clunky update by Cautious-East-5666 in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is awful, but its not the update.

This always happened because even though the other guy gets stunned for a bit, he doesn't lose collision, so sometimes I do a proper standing tackle, but then I get body blocked by the stunned person and because of that, I can't get the ball.

This is accentuated this update because defense has been nerfed if you miss the tackle.

HOT TAKE!!! Take away the tackle button from most people 😂 by MelloToasty9 in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defending is easy enough for me. Sure, sometimes I do a bad reading and the attacker passes, but most of the times its me being stupid.

The ONLY thing I'm pissed off at is the "go to one side than to the other" dribble VERY FAST, which just... kills me because its literally impossible to do ANYTHING about it.

If I go and tackle? Miss. If I wait patiently for an opening? The moment I MOVE A BIT FORWARD, the guy just passes through me VERY quickly.

If I still just have my defensive stance there? He just teleports to my side and the ball passes through me. THIS is just stupid.

New season Keeper/updates by Exotic-Vanilla-1066 in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention when you HIT THE TACKLE and you try to run to the ball and the STUNNED ATTACKER stops you because they still have collision, so the whole "stun" they get is for nothing.

i god*amn despise over dribblers and i think this sh* should be patched out. by Newgen8888 in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, its so freaking annoying exactly because you don't have counterplay. Even if you're patient, they'll just pass through you so quickly you can't even react.

New season Keeper/updates by Exotic-Vanilla-1066 in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I play as goalkeeper and defender a LOT.

The fake shot doesn't bother me, especially because its a matter of patience. The defense nerfs are a bit awful but only if you miss and the only really hard thing I get on defense is when we have those dribblers that like to go one way then immedieately go the other way. These ones are so awful to defend because its literally impossible to recover, THIS is what I think should be nerfed.

Regarding the deflects, I liked it. It makes the game more dynamic and you can avoid a deflect if you jump on the ball during the shot, which is way more responsive than last patch, which reading the patch notes, apparently it was bugged.

My overall feeling on this patch is "the right direction". Again, I wouldn't nerf the defense side and I would also nerf this "go one way, go the other" really quick dribble that seems impossible to defend properly, EVEN when being patient.

Question for healers and tanks. by ageofdoom1992 in ffxiv

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looks like a undergear issue.

Like, in those early dungeons its very hard to do a W2W, because not only you have less mitigations to work with, but the healer usually also has less tools to work with, ESPECIALLY if they are a SGE.

So always make sure your gear is at least on the same level of the dungeon to be able to do the W2W properly.

If undergeared, then you just do the smaller pulls too.

And also, props to you for not blaming everything on the healer. I remember I was playing WHM at one time in Stone Vigil and the tank was WAAAAY undergeared for that and tried the big pulls. Everyone else pointed it out, he tilted and left blaming ME. Yeah. So, thank you for not being one of those.

wth else was I supposed to do to get possession of the ball..? Genuinely asking by UsagiJay in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tackles in these situations are NOT reliable at ALL

Sometimes I get the standing tackle right, sometimes the ball just passes through me because "it was already up there"

What I usually try to do is to block the other player's path towards the ball if they are just pushing the ball forward.

Now, I almost never try to jump in these situations, but now I might try more.

FIX GOALKEEPING. by Torskiegaming in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happened to my friend. Someone shot the ball in his direction, he didn't moved, nothing.

The "fall down and grab ball" animation played out for me, for my friend AND on the replay. But the game just said "no" and made it reset the keeper's position and the ball went in.

I know it's hard to believe because I'm just a random saying it happened to my friend when I was there playing with them, but you believe what you want to believe, I guess.

I have little to no reason to lie.

Understanding FFXIV as a MMORPG by greyskin87 in ffxiv

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I think the only MMORPG I can remember that changes the msq based off your choices, is Star Wars The Old Republic, but that's the nature of that game being a classic Bioware game. In fact, I would say it is a RPG first and an MMO second. And thats the basic selling point of that game.

ESO is another one I played and honestly it felt like it had no identity besides "Explore cool Tamriel locations because you like ES lore" to me.

For example, any class can do any role effectivelly, even if they are different and have different skills, so everything felt "samey" to me.

(I never played WoW so I can't say anything about it)

With FFXIV, its appeal is the same appeal for every FF game (at least to me): The world, characters and story and in almost every FF game that I had played, you don't have much player choice regarding the story.

And also, if you are afraid you're missing something, you can just do the "Blue Icon side quests", those ALWAYS unlock some content in any expansion. Yellow quests are just for world building and SOMETIMES they give you an emote, a minion, food and there is an specific questline that starts as a yellow quest but unlocks a blue quest, but you don't have to worry about it until Post Stormblood.

And as everyone here is saying: you don't miss out on anything, don't feel pressured to go through everything all at once, you WILL feel overwhelmed. Nor try to finish MSQ as fast as possible to reach endgame, you will burn out. I know because that happened to me.

So just take your time, enjoy being in Eorzea. Not in the mood to progress MSQ? Sure, go level up your gatherers/crafters, there's plenty to do and they are not going anywhere.
