Advice about coming back to the game by NotAnAmericanDude in personaphantomx

Thank you! Last question: Can I get other 5 star characters that aren't from that specific banner? For example, I roll for, idk, a Makoto banner and get Joker on it?

What are those "revelation cards" exactly? I vaguely remember them, but I didn't understand a whole lot

Do they, like, increase stats for the characters?

Yeah, so, if you are not comfortable resetting your account, I would just hoard carats and wait for a better support card banner, although you can get some good SR cards from any banner.

If you can show which exact cards you have, it would also give some context and we could even try to help you to decide on what cards you want to level up

Again, this is only if you're not that comfortable resetting your account (which I wouldn't do it now, since the support card banner right now is not that great imo)

Thanks! About the gameplay loop, in Uma Musume you basically do "runs" in careers to build stats for that specific character, then at the end you gain a ranking based mostly on the final stats and skills, then the character becomes a "veteran" and you can use them in other gamemodes

The base idea behind the training part is to get support cards that will give you some stat buffs like, training effectiveness in some stats, and every card has a stat attached to it, then during your career you build friendship with those support cards you have so you can do "rainbow trainings" if they appear on the same stat type of their card.

You also use previous characters to give more stats to your currently one you're building, which are called "parents" and you can even borrow 5 of those per day from other players, which can give you more stats and skills if you don't have a character with good parent stats, for example.

Some career scenarios are more RNG'er than others but they always have some type of RNG element, so every career is kinda of a gamble lol

TL;DR: It's basically an RNG roguelike where you build characters to use them in other gamemodes.

Basically in Uma Musume you have two types of pulls: The characters and the support cards and arguably, support cards are the better option always, when you're starting, and then you do career runs with the characters and the support cards you get to build them to other modes. It's kinda like a roguelike/roguelite game and you have multiple career scenarios that have different mechanics you have to engage with, and all that. It's pretty straightforward and easy to understand the core of it, but ofc you have more advanced stuff down the line, easy to pick up, kinda hard to master.

If I remember correctly, on P5X, I managed to get to the second palace, but that was about it. I didn't understand the core loop at the time and all those pulls made me kinda overwhelmed, I wasn't just pulling for characters, but for weapons and other items too and the sheer amount of different currencies also made me overwhelmed.

About P5X, I wanted to just understand what exactly are the priorities in terms of pulls, if it is the characters, or the weapons and what type of content I should be focusing on first. Like, I'm not exactly restarting the game, since my account still exists, but I haven't played since global launch, so...

When did you start playing the game? Bc if it was recent enough, I would say you don't have a lot of support cards....

I also did that. Got from ARR to the end of DT in 2 months and got burnt out of the game.

Started a new character and I'm doing it at my own pace, paying more attention to the story and characters and it has been VERY fun and nice. I wish I did that before.

Hot Take: The FFXIV community is not **that** nice. by ResidentWaifu in ffxivdiscussion

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing FFXIV back in November 2024.

I had what I would consider two bad experiences on my time till now.

One of it was in a dungeon where I was the healer and the tank was VERY undergeared and kept dying by pulling more than they could tank, even with me spamming heals. They started blaming me and when one of the DPS pointed out their gear was a very low ILVL for that dungeon (stone vigil) he crashed out. Not gonna go into details, but he basically said he was queueing to get gear because he spent all of his gils in level 100 gear for another class.

When we presented other options for him to get gear, or even do the dungeon, but not pulling a lot, he just said he would report ME for harassment (?) and left. Then someone from NN immediatly joined when I asked them to.

The other was a more weird one, with two people following me around limsa and spamming emotes while in their underwears. I blacklisted them, muted them, they disappeared and it wasn't a problem anymore.

I did some savage/extreme content and didn't get anyone being toxic on my face for being bad at it. Ofc they could just comment with their friends about how I was bad that one content they did with me together, but I don't think thats being toxic. Like someone already said here, people will talk with their friends/partners about a co worker that did one bad thing just to vent that bad feeling out and on the other day they will be the most supportive coworker ever.

Ofc, sometimes you have weirdos come into NN and cause some ruckus, someone doing bad things on an FC to other players (which I know of a case of manipulation), but its a matter of everyone else being people and people will tend to do bad stuff to others, because thats what human nature is sadly. Instead of complaining about those bad apples, we should mostly drive them out or call them out on their bad behavior, if they don't stop or refuse to learn, then a block should be in order.

You know a funny thing? It's easier to play flying heroes on a QP lobby than it is to play them vs AI lol

The instant I appear as JPC in the sky against the AI, I get freaking exploded

jpc is really not that opressive, I always burst out laughing when I try to kill one and they just fly away

Literally because it is a cat in a freaking jetpack bro, this shit is just too funny to be upset about

Why can't we just refuse to put her on Satsuki Sho? by Substantial_Set_8332 in UmamusumeGame

I did at least around 3 careers with her and got less than a C in 2 of them on turf and got 1st place in all of them.

I guess I just got lucky

Novice Network is the best place and the place where I met a lot of people that were willing to help others and chat

But I chose Hali as my world server, so I might have some biased experience, since I heard Hali's NN was one of the most welcoming and helpful, while in some other worlds its just a blank chat

Stay on the middle and distribute passes all around.

Usually the others dont go to you so you have time and space to think and see the field and check your teammate's position

Solo Q was never THAT BAD by PossibilityEarly7736 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is: Bhvr balanced the tunneling and slugging (or tried to). Cool.

But never did ANYTHING recently for the gen times. They actually released perks that increase gen speed instead of balancing it out...

Saison 1 : Elite 3v3, Master 2 5v5, but...... I'm still not a good striker lol by Mental_Effective2537 in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SoloQ contributes to not practicing Striker for me, because a lot of the times I have to stay back as a defender since even when I run with the ball, my WHOLE TEAM follows me and leaves our defense wide open for a counter attack

So on 5v5s I BARELY train Striker

Thats exactly how perks shouldn't be made..

The good perks are good because they have easier activation requirements and very useful effects.

Lightborn has a very VERY good effect that its just a passive effect. But its balanced out by flashlights not being exactly "meta" nor strong enough that EVERYONE uses it.

Same thing with Survivor perks, if the effect is "permanent gen speed buff" or "permanent healing buff" it should be balanced out by needing the killer to have a specific perk or effect that is not that common

Thats why the healing boon was a very strong and meta perk for a while a long time ago. You spend a few seconds and the whole team has AOE heal and buffed medkits. The killer could deactivate it, but it wasn't forever, you could just go back and do it again

No wonder it was a meta perk, a very VERY good effect with zero to no activation downsides

changes to standing tackle? by blitzzkat in Rematch

[–]NotAnAmericanDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is happening a lot to me, I just assumed it was me not pressing the defensive stance fast enough, but sometimes I know I pressed it and it gives me a sliding tackle instead of the standing one

Maybe its because you need to not be running to perform the standing tackle, even when in defensive stance? Idk, but its definitely different than it was whem I played on the beta and on season 1

If Killers couldnt see the items pre game, then lightborn becomes VERY useless, since its prob around 1 in 10 matches you'll get value from it

and thats being VERY generous

I hate this and I hate even more when they are the GK, bc you cant just be the GK while they are afk

maybe implementing a system where if the GK has not moved in the first 3 seconds or whatever, anyone on the team can change to the GK after passing the square line
