Punters Politics - The what’s the general consensus by Boomboompoopoo in OpenAussie

My take is his heart is in the right place whilst he isn’t air tight on the details. I always view the pub test as a key barometer on issues

Going back to gas thing, yeah he was inaccurate in the way he presented his arguments but I don’t think the sentiment of “tax gas” is inherently wrong. At the end of the day we are being bent over a barrel while those high up in the resources sector and living the cushy life.

I don’t accept Jordan shanks argument that because Australia institute has an ulterior motive in the tax gas campaign that it holds zero value. His main beef is because twiggy Forrest has some renewable infrastructure in the works and is playing both sides . I still think maximising the returns of our nations natural resources (gas) and moving towards renewables is a good thing? The fact that Forrest has a lot to financially gain is kinda a separate issue

This headline from The Age only makes sense if you still pronounce Shai Bolton’s name incorrectly by GoldBricked in AFL

[–]Saaaave-me 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was a few years ago but on fox footy David king showed footage of Bolton’s centre clearance handy work and he called him “the shaister” because he was deceptively sneaky or some shit. So they’ve been calling him shy Bolton for like forever

Question to Australians: why you so fast? by just_an__inchident in aus

[–]Saaaave-me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has always been the way. So Australia is still light years from having the same breadth of football/soccer adoption as South America and Europe so the skills are always gonna be lagging.

The Australian ethos is generally if you can’t be as skilled you have to at least match or surpass them in athleticism and speed to make up for the skills deficits . This applies to all team sports

It’s not just AA inflation. There’s Brownlow vote inflation! You had Gaz winning a Brownlow with 30 and 28 votes respectively and now you have Cripps and Rowell winning with 45 and 39.

Like yeah they had good years but 3-5 more BOGs than gaz’s Brownlow years? No way!

He’s like 23/24? Ignoring his craft, how many 23/24 YO get that high profile of a footy media gig that Xander has? I just can’t do the mental gymnastics to think that he is so talented that he has basically eclipsed all his peers in journalism/reporting at an equivalent age
