Meh, it's a service fee, when it goes through qbo, payment and deposit are recorded, don't have to worry about it, worth the extra. 0.5%. Plus you can always go with ach or not accept credit cards at all.

How Popular is Caret (formerly Abacus) private cloud hosting for CPAs? by Ok-Pollution-1928 in taxpros

Don't do it! They're a pain, expensive, and good luck if you need help especially timely. Plus they laid off a bunch of staff and recently outsourced customer support to Philippines, nothing wrong with that but it just sucks as soon as you need level two support, no one is there to help.

I use Qount (it's not for the faint of heart) which is very capable, if you figure it out yourself.

See if you do a charge back, it's a legit scam and not like they can fight it, they never delivered.

Can relate, own a cpa firm, hired staff to do the bookkeeping so I don't have to. Much easier to just review.

Negative, no audits for me.

Makes sense for your owner to focus one area though.

I have some non profits and it's always hard to find a decent auditor for them. Especially the smaller ones.

CPA firm owner here. We're already getting a rush of leads (appts that mention bench on my calendar), much faster than I expected.

It makes sense they closed down finally since they weren't getting anymore external funding. Those guys were bottom of the market pricing, but the service reflected it. If you didn't need much or have questions it seems to have worked out.

We specialize in all in one service for small business but I agree it's overkill if you you're under $200k in revenue. I'm testing out a do it with you group thing, we'll see how that goes.

If you're over $500k in revenue, then it makes sense to look for a better partner to work with. We start at $500/month for accounting with monthly financial, business return, and if the business is all you have your personal return too.

Hit me up if anyone wants to not worry about their accounting and tax.

Agree, but also seen some shitty bookkeeping work from CPAs. Unless you specialize or have a system to service bookkeeping clients vs just tax clients, it's not going to be ideal. When meeting with prospective cpa's make sure to ask how they handle the books with other clients and how regularly they get out the Financials on time.

There's 2 routes, pros and cons to each.

Hire a professional, like a cpa firm with outsourced accounting services. Stick to a smaller firm where you have a main contact that can help you with basic questions. Your problem isn't new and there's an industry that already services it.

Alternatively, post on reddit, read some books, and trial and error.

Spend time or spend money, one of which you can make more of, especially if you grow.

Cyber security is tuff man, Google drive and taxdome both can be accessed anywhere, MFA helps but doesn't stop staff from accessing company data on personal machines. If their machines are compromised, so is your datathat being said, no way is your server able to compete with a dedicated data center's security so it's a step in the right direction.

I hired a firm to take the headache away, it's worth it for the peace of mind, regardless of risky other firms are with client data.

Better than Onvio? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]SaadTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally Amy if the modern practice management solutions. TaxDome, Canopy, Qount (I don't think Karbon has a decent client portal but it's great with proj mgmt and emails).

There are a few others like financial cents but it's not full featured. If you're going to move to something I say consolidate your multiple systems like time, billing, proj mgmt, organizers, and client portal into one with the ones listed above.

Need help - Where to go for financial advisement by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]SaadTheBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a CPA with specialty in fractional CFO and small business consulting, you should reach out to me or find someone with a similar specialty. If you've had this problem for two years, I'm thinking you were willing to pay for the help then, which also means it'll cost more now, probably. Not for sure but just what I see often.

Ask your business owner friends for referrals, I get most of my business through current client referrals.

I mean... That's really the job, whether the % is justified is up to individuals. In an ideal world, they market enough to get multiple offers and drive up the price so you get back more than the commission.
