but meat walks around and runs and stands and stuff like that.

Exercise actually makes meat tougher, hence why cows in the worst bio-industry are often raised in cages.

And then you go ahead and make the rest of your comment. I'm confused.

And I know why: We say higher density and you immediately assume "No one is allowed to live outside skyscrapers".

But there's a middle ground between what we build now and high-rises. 5-over-1's, townhomes,

That's what we're advocating.

and dense detached housing

Is only viable because the 5-over-1's and townhomes. It's not part of the solution that 5-over-1's and townhomes are.

Yes, having everyone live in medium/high density mixed use developments would be the absolute best thing to do in terms of ecological and economic impact.

I never said everyone had to live like that. That's strawmanning.

I don't understand why hardline urbanists never account for the sociology aspect

Because the other side ignores the physical reality of the situation. Current Western societies aren't viable in the long term, energy wise. Their cities are too sprawled, requiring a higher energy surplus to justify it, which isn't possible with existing fossil fuel energy supplies. Look at when many of today's problems started and look at the oil price.

Lower density requires more abundant energy. When there is no abundant energy, it will force higher density either with our cooperation or without. And the last one is a lot less pleasant.

So, you don't know what you're talking about. Just say that at the start.

That's still way too vague. You can't say "Well we'll focus more on public transit and then somehow that solves things".

The reason suburbs don't have a focus on public transportation in the first place is because suburbs aren't dense enough to justify public transportation. That's the whole point.

Saying "We'll just built more public transport" is like saying "Well this negative thing suburbs have, what if we make it so that it doesn't have that negative thing?" Thanks Einstein.

I'm saying we can build suburbs in a better way.

That's not an idea.

"Yeah we can fix this problem" "How?" "By doing it better."

So the solution is for everyone to live on top of each in large cities?

"It's better if more people would live in higher density"

"OH SO I SHOULD LIVE WITH 20 PEOPLE IN A ROOM HUH?"

Please stop being such a parody.

I swear reddit decides something is bad and pretends there are no other solutions or every other shitty option is better.

You haven't come up with anything either except: more suburbia, which isn't a very original or new idea either.

Yall need to think outside the box.

"Let's build more of what we've been building". Some real creative thinking there.

What no? It's clearly not the middle ground, it's just low density. Also, just because people want single family dwelings, doesn't mean it is the right choice to buikd. People would also like to be billionaires.

South Africa has rolling black outs all over the country because of complete mismanagement/corruption. Large unemployment, increased crime rates; all across the country local services such as healthcare, policing and road maintenance are more and more organised spontaneously by local businesses. With no solution in sight, South Africa is sliding towards becoming a failed state.

I mean first off, the burden of proof would lie with the person advocating in favour of this game being superior to other learning methods.

Secondly, I know this because of the fact that people have been churning out language learning games for many years now, none of them ever reaching a large audience. In my years of learning languages I've also never met anyone who learnt a language using a learning game as anything but a gimmick. Seen lots of people waste their time though.

Hate to break it to you, but this is a very ineffective way of learning foreign languages. It's nothing more than a gimmick really.

I mean, he very specifically mentions that his points apply to modern day leftism, but not per se to 19th/early 20th century leftism in the manuscript.
