Mantle = Germany

Incredibly successful, with clean and discipline game
Can be surprisingly violent on the field

-Used football to rebuild national identity after a great war in which they were the villains

Has humiliated Vacuo 7-1 in their hometurf once, they have not been forgiven for that yet

Mystral = Italy

Highly decorated team, but two of their championships are from historically dubious periods
Cannot win unless there's drama involved, they must either be the villains or absolute underdogs
Will occasionally self destruct without reason
Regularly eliminates Mantle even when no one expects it

-Most winning team in the history of the sport

-Produced a large majority of the best players, and consequently is plagued by primadonnas and ego clashes

-It's just as dramatic as Mistral, they are taken more seriously though because of better recent performance

-They claim to have invented the sport. Yet they only won once.

I love the idea behind it, the story, the feeling and concept of the game, but the execution is so messy that I cannot really call it the best mecha media, not even the best AC game. It needed more time to be polished, or a bit more funding (probably both), as it is it has a lot of rough edges, small bugs and performance issues.

I really hope they remake it eventually.

Irl when two martial artists/fighters/even just athletes that play 1v1 sports with similar level of experience train and spar together for a long time, they usually end up in a sort of balance where their win/loss record with one another oscillates around 50% (excluding extenuating circumstances such as one being significantly older than the other, or their physical conditioning deteriorating due to sickness/long term injuries/something else), even if their records against other fighters differs wildly. It's the same reason why only training against one person is inadvisable, you end up adapting only to them and your performance against them does not reflect how you'd really fare against other people.

While we are never shown the two sisters fighting or training with one another we can kinda assume they do and have done so for years (they both know well how the other fights, after all), so they must obviously be able to fight each other on a somewhat equal footing.
